MOVING DAY
____________Caroline's pov__________________________________
We'd found a house just outside of the main part of the city where Luca worked and started moving in two days later.
One of Luca's men, his cousin Frederico, had put it under his name, same with the shopping purchases being delivered. He was just under Luca so it wouldn't be as suspicious that he'd purchase such an extravagant home.
The only three people who knew about the purchase were the accountant, Luca and Frederico.
House might be too small of a word for what they purchased. I knew it would be as big and bold as the man who was really purchasing it.
Luca had managed to find an Italian style Mansion in New York on a quiet street.
A large white structure with wrought iron balconies and lush green hedges hugging the home. The yard was massive which meant more room for our children, who weren't even born yet to run and hide.
Luca and his cousin assured me they would be walking and running before I was ready for it.
Inside was fit for a king. Marble in white and brown veins lay everywhere from the fireplaces to the flooring in every room. Had he thought about the amount of mud his kids would track through this house? No maid was going to like him much.
He'd help from my sister and mother in law with furnishings, the paint colors were rich in reds and creams, the dark wood panels gleamed under the numerous crystal chandeliers. A home fit for showing off wealth for sure.
We even had a ball room....you know in case we ever needed one.
Oh, seventeen rooms too. It was honestly too much but I couldn't really say anything. The deal was done and Luca understood his New York society and his position better than I did.
To say I was still overwhelmed was an understatement. I'd decided to hole myself up in the nursery. While we didn't know what we were having besides two little humans at this point, I still needed to be prepared. I was really filling out. Luca and I had placed a plate of crackers and olives on my belly yesterday. It was the perfect height for a table.
He'd found it funnier than I had honestly but it was convenient.
One room I had complete control over was the twin's room. I'd chosen a pale blue for the walls. Mostly brown, gold and blues for the nursery. We'd see what people sent when the babies were born.
"Hey, put that down, you brat." Luca, my handsome Italian Capo smiled and swatted my backside. I scoffed and turned my head for the kiss that I knew was coming.
"It's a tiny side table." I gently reprimanded him. Honestly, I needed to get away from all the chaos that was still going on in the home. I also felt a little upset that once again, no one had asked my opinion on anything in the home that I was to live in.
I hadn't picked furnishings, colors or even linens...it had all been chosen for me....
He pulled off to my side and gave my a sympathetic look. He knew me too well at this point.
"What's wrong baby. You don't like the house?" He asked me softly, his voice sliding in between my ears like silk. I shivered with his closeness to me.
"It's not that. It's a beautiful...mansion, really it's just." I could feel the familiar lump in my throat. I swear it has been there since birth and probably until the day I die, always ready for me to choke back my words less they be misconstrued.
