Zoyee returned home that evening with a smile feeling happy. She had made up her mind about Archie and now there was no turning back. Entering the house she found her mom, Siri sitting in the living room flipping through some papers, maybe her office works. "Hey Mom, you came early?" Zoyee started fidgeting with the hem of her shirt. Siri looked up noticing the nervous energy. "Hi sweetie, yeah today there was not much work in the office. So I came early to spend some time with my pretty daughter. Zoyee smiled a little but her hesitation was still there. "What's up? You look like you have something to say," Siri asked sensing the nervousness of her. Zoyee hesitated for a moment,m then sat down beside her. "Mom, I… I need to tell you something." Siri kept the papers aside giving her full attention. "Alright, I'm listening." Zoyee took a deep breath. "I think I'm in love with Archie." Siri's face lit up. "Archie? Your senior from college? Oh, that's wonderful, dear." Zoyee blushed a little. Siri laughed. "I knew from the beginning. You've been spending so much time together and I can see how happy he makes you. I'm really happy for you. You deserve this happiness. Have you told him how you feel yet or not?"  Zoyee shook her head, "Not yet. I'm planning to confess after the orientation program for the freshers. I want to make it special." Siri reached over and held Zoyee's hand, "That's a great idea. But before that I want to meet him properly." "Umm okay. Lemme think." "Why don't you invite him over for dinner? I'll be able to bond with him also." "Really? Okay, then I'll text him right away."  "Absolutely. It'll give him a chance to see how serious you are about each other and don't stress too much. Just invite him over, "Siri said with a warm smile.

The next day Zoyee worked up the courage to ask Archie. They were walking to the campus together when she turned to him. "Umm, Archie. Are you free this weekend?" she asked trying to sound casual. "Yeah, why?" he replied. "I was wondering if you'd like to come over for dinner. Actually that day you went to my home and met mom but as you couldn't get a proper conversation. So mom wanted to meet you." Archie blinked surprised, "Your mom? Dinner?" "I mean only if you don't have any problems." "Uh no no, I don't have any problem. I'd love to meet her also. So what time?" "Sunday at 7:00?" Zoyee asked with a small smile. "Perfect, I'll be there," he promised though internally he was already panicking about everything.

The night before the dinner Archie sat on his bed, Googling furiously: "What to bring when meeting a girl that you like and also for her mom?" After scrolling through countless articles he settled on two ideas- a flower bouquet for Siri and a small pendant for Zoyee. The next morning, he went shopping and found a delicate necklace with a tiny heart-shaped pendant that he thought would suit Zoyee perfectly.

Zoyee spent the entire day preparing for the dinner with her mom. She cooked brownie herself, knowing it was Archie's favorite. By the time it was almost evening she was both excited and nervous. She took a shower and slipped into a simple dress. She did some makeup and checked her reflection in the mirror. Her heart fluttered at the thought of Archie seeing her like this.

Meanwhile, Archie arrived at her house holding the bouquet and kept the pendant box in his pocket. Taking a deep breath he rang the doorbell. Siri opened the door smiling warmly. "Good evening, Mrs. Siri," Archie greeted politely handing her the flowers. "Oh dear, these are lovely. Thank you. Please, call me aunty and come inside already," she said stepping aside to let him in. Zoyee appeared in the hallway with her face lighting up when she saw him, "Hey," she said softly. "Hey," Archie replied stunned by how beautiful she looked in a simple dress.
