It was about a week after my mission at the circus. Everything was pretty quiet around the place to be honest, well, that's event-wise. When of came to noise, it definitely was not quiet around the mansion. Jeff and Jane were screaming at each other as per usual, Smile and Sebastian would run around barking, Sally and Rose were playing with each other, etc, etc.
So I think you get the point. The week was very boring but at the same time, extremely noisy.
We asked Rose if she wanted to do a little bit of training for her fifth ability and excited, was definitely an understatement. When we asked her, she began running around squealing and telling anyone and everyone she came across.
I can't believe she's finally old enough to try out her ability, my little girl is growing up way too fast.
Well, today was the day Rose was going to try her fifth ability. She's only tried it once, and that was when she was first born. Oh how could I forget that day...
Anyway, I was trying to get back to sleep, cuddled up to Jack's chest. Sebastian was lying at the foot of our bed asleep. Stupid nightmares, I wish I could have at least one good night's sleep but no...
I began to slowly drift off again but woke up slightly to what I thought was the sound of our door opening and closing. Kira, it was probably someone else, get back to sleep. I adjusted how I was lying slightly and tried to drift off again before I felt someone crawling on top of me.
"Mummy.." Rose whispered in my ear.
I smiled as I wrapped an arm around her, opening my eyes and whispering back so I wouldn't wake Jack. "You ok sweetie?"
"I can't sleep..."
I carefully sat up and pulled her into my arms. "Do you want to go for a short walk?"
She nodded and I carefully got off the bed with her. Jack began to stir slightly but Sebastian groggily got up and lied next to Jack so he relaxed again.
I pulled a light-weight cardigan over my pyjamas and took Rose's hand, walking with her down the hallway.
"Did you have a bad dream sweetie?" I looked down at her as we walked downstairs
"Not exactly mummy.. I'm scared..."
"Of what?" I gently squeezed her hand
"Of today... Mummy, what if I screw up during training?" She looked up at me
I stopped walking with her and knelt down in front of her, tucking a piece of her hair behind her ear. "You won't screw up sweetie, it might just take a little practise."
"But I don't know what I'm going to do..."
"Let's go to the training room and we'll go through what's going to happen, ok?" I smiled
"Ok mummy.."
I stood up again and we walked to the training room. I turned on the lights and I walked into the centre of the room with her.
"We won't be doing much today. All we will be doing is testing your ability which is the rose thorns coming out of the ground like I've told you about." I reassured her
"But... What if Lord Zalgo wants me to fight... Like when you first began training...?"
I knelt down in front of her and pulled her into a hug. "That won't happen sweetie... That will never happen to you... I promise you that if you don't want to do something, we will not make you..."
She buried her face into me and smiled a little. "Thank you mummy.."
"You're welcome." I held her close, gently stroking her hair.
