Gut Feeling

It had been a week since my hallucinations and everything had returned to normal. We hadn't really heard much from the CPH over the bug we planted but I have a bad feeling that something's going to happen. I couldn't put my finger on what it was though.

When I woke up, Jack holding me close to him. He was already awake, looking up at the ceiling. I kissed his cheek softly and smiled .

"Good morning."

"Good morning sleepyhead." he chuckled

"Sleep well?"

"Like a log." he smiled. "What about you?"

"Pretty well actually apart from the... Nightmare..."

He kissed my forehead and then rested his head on mine.

"I know, honey, I know... Don't worry, we can have a nice quiet day today... Ok?"

Something was telling me we weren't going to have a 'nice quiet day' but I dismissed the thought as I got up and got dressed.

I walked down to the kitchen with Jack. Rose and Sally were sitting next to each other talking and giggling. Jeff and Jane were arguing next to Slenderman who was ignoring them as he made pancakes in his frilly pink apron.

I walked over to Rose and kissed her forehead.

"Good morning sweetie."

"Good morning mum." she giggled

"Sleep well?"

"Very well." she smiled brightly

I smiled and sat down with Jack next to her. Slenderman brought over breakfast which we all ate... Even though it was delicious as usual I still felt like something wasn't right...

I blinked a few times, removing the thoughts as Rose and Sally stood up.

"Mum, can we go play?" Rose asked excitedly, jumping up and down

"Of course, you two have fun." I smiled

They both ran off and I laughed quietly to myself, some days it truly amazed me how energetic children could be.

I talked with Jack for a little while before I stood up and helped Slenderman with the dishes. We were about half way though the dishes... The CPH logo flashed past my mind, I saw Sally and Rose screaming, the window was open, dolls were all over the floor.

My hands were trembling, the plates I was holding slipped from my grip and smashed against the tiles, sending shards of the plate everywhere. Everyone just looked at me, slightly shocked.

"Are you alright child?" Slenderman asked

I didn't even bother responding as I bolted out the kitchen and up the stairs, faster than I ever have before.

"Rose?!?! Sally?!?!" I could hear the panic laced through my voice as I screamed out their names, praying to get some sort of reply.

I got to Rose's room and saw no one in there but nothing looked disturbed, maybe they weren't playing in her room. I prayed to god I had got to them in time. I sprinted to her door and quickly opened the door.

My heart sunk when I saw dolls scattered across the floor, the window was open, just like I saw in my vision.

I ran to the window but saw no one. There were large tracks from what looked like the big machines the CPH made leading into the forest. My knees failed beneath me and I began crying uncontrollably. I had let my little girl down...

At that moment Jack rushed in and ran to me, kneeling in front of me with both his hands on my shoulders.

"Hey... What's going on?"
