The next morning, as Anika woke up, a throbbing pain in her head reminded her of the previous night's alcohol-induced adventure. Her gaze fell on a glass of lime water neatly placed on the bedside table. Beside it lay a note, handwritten in a familiar style. The message read: "Drink this lime water. It will help with your headache." Instantly, Anika recognized the thoughtfulness behind it—it was Abhimanyu.

A small smile crept onto her face, but her head still pounded as she reached for the lime water, gulping it down to ease her discomfort. Suddenly, a realization struck her—today was the last day to submit her assignment, and missing college was not an option. Despite her reluctance and pounding headache, she knew she had no choice but to attend.

Dragging herself out of bed, Anika made her way to the bathroom. She went through her usual morning routine—brushing her teeth, taking a refreshing shower, and getting ready for the day ahead. Once done, she descended the staircase to join her family for breakfast, her footsteps lighter but still a bit sluggish.

As she entered the dining area, she noticed everyone already seated at the table, their eyes shifting toward her. Abhimanyu's gaze lingered a little longer, and Anika could feel the weight of his stare. Embarrassed by her antics from the previous night, she avoided meeting his eyes and quietly took a seat beside him. Her silence did not go unnoticed, and Abhimanyu smirked knowingly, his expression one of both amusement and subtle teasing.

The breakfast began, but the tension in the air was palpable. Finally, Abhimanyu broke the silence. "Dad," he said with a mischievous glint in his eyes, "do you know where your lovely daughter-in-law was last night?"

Anika's head snapped toward him, her eyes narrowing with anger. How dare he bring this up in front of everyone! she thought, glaring at him. But before she could say anything, Abhimanyu's father chuckled lightly and said, "I know everything, beta. And I’m the one who gave her permission to go to the club."

Anika's glare shifted to surprise as her father-in-law continued, "I trust her completely. I know she would never do anything that could bring harm to our reputation. She understands her responsibilities well."

Hearing his words, Anika felt a wave of relief and gratitude wash over her. Her anger toward Abhimanyu faded, replaced by a slight blush of embarrassment. She knew her father-in-law’s trust was not something she could take lightly, and his words gave her the strength to face the rest of the day with renewed determination.

Meanwhile, Abhimanyu stole a glance at her flushed cheeks and couldn't help but smile to himself. Perhaps teasing her was his way of breaking the ice, but deep down, even he admired the way she carried herself despite the challenges.

Abhimanyu leaned back in his chair, a teasing smirk playing on his lips. “Dad, when I drank for the first time, you scolded me endlessly. But when your daughter-in-law drinks, you just let it slide? That’s not fair,” he said, feigning a hurt expression.
