The atmosphere in the Raghuvanshi house was tense. The grand hall, usually filled with light chatter and warmth, was now shrouded in an unsettling silence. The large antique clock hanging on the wall struck 7 p.m., its chime echoing through the mansion, yet there was still no sign of Anika.
At first, no one panicked. Anika was an independent woman, and they all trusted her. But as the minutes turned into hours, worry began to creep in. Her phone was switched off, making it impossible to contact her. The unease that had started as a simple concern was now turning into full-blown anxiety.
Riya, who had been pacing the floor, looked at the front door again, hoping Anika would walk in any moment. But the door remained shut.
Reyansh, who had been scrolling through his phone absentmindedly, suddenly sat up straight and turned to Riya. “Riya, where is Bhabhi?” he asked, his voice laced with worry.
Riya sighed and shook her head. “I don’t know, Reyansh Bhai. We’ve all been trying to reach her, but her phone is dead.”
The room erupted into whispers. Everyone had been thinking the same thing but hadn’t dared to voice it out loud—What if something bad had happened to Anika?
Reyansh clenched his fists. “What if Bhabhi has been kidnapped?” His voice was serious, making everyone in the room freeze.
Riya’s eyes widened in horror. “No… that can’t be true…” she whispered, trying to deny the possibility.
“Did anyone inform Abhimanyu Bhai?” Reyansh asked urgently.
Riya’s stomach dropped. Abhimanyu. She had been so consumed by fear that she hadn’t thought of calling him. If Anika was truly in danger, he needed to know.
Without wasting another second, Riya grabbed her phone and dialed Abhimanyu’s number. The phone rang for a few seconds before a deep, authoritative voice answered.
“Hello, Riya. I’m about to take off for an important meeting. Why are you calling me right now?” Abhimanyu’s voice was calm but impatient.
Riya’s hands trembled as she clutched the phone. “Bhai… Anika Bhabhi didn’t come home. She went to the bazaar, and since then, we haven’t heard from her. Her phone is off… w-we think she’s been kidnapped.”
Silence.
A heavy, suffocating silence filled the air.
Then, without a word, the line disconnected.
Abhimanyu’s POV
Abhimanyu sat frozen in his private jet. The luxurious leather seat beneath him suddenly felt suffocating. His fingers, still gripping the phone, felt numb.
Anika. Kidnapped.
The words rang in his head like a death sentence. His heart pounded violently against his ribs, his breaths turning shallow.
No. This can’t be happening.
His wife. His Anika. The woman he had sworn to protect. Someone had dared to take her away from him.
His assistant, standing a few feet away, cleared his throat hesitantly. “Sir, we’re ready to take off. Your meeting is scheduled to start in thirty minutes.”
Abhimanyu’s jaw tightened. He could feel his pulse hammering in his ears. A meeting? How could they expect him to sit in a boardroom and discuss business when his wife was missing?
