ASHLYN's pov
Man, it sure took me a while to fall asleep last night. That kiss...it was just so... I don't know....amazing. Who am I to think though, he probably felt bad for over thinking or something. I decided to get up out of bed and go get some breakfast. I knew josh, my brother would have made something by now. I went upstairs and see dad and josh sitting at the table eating bacon and eggs and I sit down and put some on my plate. Everyone was quiet till my dad spoke up "The Balans need your help today. Your aunt needs some help hauling grain she hurt her arm yesterday and can't shift gear in the tandem very good." I smile and say "okay dad, you know you don't need to explain anything. I love helping them. Gets me away from this thing" as I lightly kick josh under the table and he glares at me. I put my dishes in the dishwasher and go get ready for my day. I put on my old torn up jeans and my blue plaid shirt. I put my hair up in a messy bun and my ball cap over top. I run upstairs and give my dad a hug saying "see you later old man" and kiss his cheek goodbye, he just pats my arm and smiles. As I'm driving there I get a text from Luke, so I pull over and text him back.

L- Hey Ash. What's on the schedule today??
A- Hey, just going to help out uncle Lloyd, Ty, Conner, and aunt Corrine today at the ranch. How bout you?
L- Nothing. Looking for something to do. They need anymore help??
A- not sure. I'll be there in a few minutes. I'll ask. I'll text you then.
L- alright. Thanks ash.

I put my phone down then put my truck in gear. Speeding now since I'm behind schedule. I pull into the drive way and see Connor walking and yell at him to get in and he asks me "Do you like Luke? Be honest with me." I look at him in shock. He never asks me stuff like that. "Um ya, I do, why?." I answer. He just shrugs his shoulders and pulls out his phone and texts someone. I pull up to the house and walk into the house and Lloyd almost yells "holy shit. Look what the wind blew in right on time!" I laugh and shake my head. My aunt tells me she needs help feeding the calf before we get to work and I ask uncle if he could use another hand and he says it wouldn't hurt so I pull out my phone.

A- Hey Lukey. He said yes so hurry up. 😜
L- alrighty. Thanks ash, be right there. ☺️

I look at my phone smiling and my uncle says "stop texting your boyfriend" "he's not my boyfriend!" I reply laughing. "Yet" him and Connor both say laughing and Lloyd gives me a side hug then goes out to start up the tractors. Luke pulls up as I'm walking out with the milk bucket and bottle and he runs to me and grabs the bucket saying "here let me help you" I shake my head smiling and answer "I think Connor could use some help" as I point to him trying to pull a fallen tree out of the way. He laughs shaking his head yelling "Connor go the other way" and he waves at me and runs to him. I just watch him then snap out of it. What am I thinking. I mean yeah we kissed but did it really mean anything to him?? Hmm I wonder.

I finish feeding the calves then me and my aunt go out with the tractor and the tandem to the back. She leaves cuz she can't do anything else and next thing I know Luke is running up to me. He says "Hey pretty girl what you doing?? Need any help??" I kinda just look at him blankly. Did he really just call me pretty girl. I mean like wow... Who knew. He starts pulling on my arm and I snap out of my thoughts. "Um sure but I won't need help till I get over to the pasture down the road. You can come with me if you'd like." I say kinda fast cuz I feel embarrassed. He just climbs into the truck without saying anything. Guess he's coming. I get in right after. The drive is kinda quiet besides him quietly singing to himself along with the radio. The song gone long gone by Jason Benoit comes on and I turn it up a little cuz it's my favorite song and he turns it up more singing along. I just laugh at his crazyness. He shuts off the radio and looks at me and starts to talk "hey ash....I got to tell you something...."
