Farkle
5pm
I got a text from Riley telling me to meet her at the bay window, and whenever we meet there, it's always something important.
I enter the window and see Maya and Riley there.
"Hey guys what's up? Where is everyone else?" I say
"Well you know they are uhh busy. " Riley says
"Why did you call me here? "
"Oh, no reason. We just wanted to hang out with you." Maya says
That is weird
"Alright, what do you guys wanna talk about? "
"Oh, whatever you want. By the way. Random question. Have you liked anyone after your break up? " Riley says
"Riley, you can't ask him that. But now that she brought it up. Do you?" Maya grins
"Why? Who's asking?"
"No one. We just know how heartbreaking the break up was for you, and as your best, we want to know if you have properly moved on." Maya says
"Uh huh and how do I know you are not planning anything?"
"Cause we aren't " Riley smiles
"Well, there is this one girl," I say blushing a bit
"I knew it!" Riley explains
"Well tell us about her. " Maya says
"No, thank you. I just know you are either going to tease me or you will just tell her."
"So it's someone we know. " they both exclaim
Crap. I shouldn't have said anything
"Why do you even want to know?"
"Because we want to set you up with someone," Riley says
Maya gives her a side eye and says, "Riley, you had one job."
"Wait who do you want to set me up with?"
I can predict what is coming next, but I'd still like to confirm my odds.
"How about Gia? We just want to know if you like her?" Riley asks
"Why did she say something?"
"First, answer the question," Maya says
"Fine, I do. But you can't tell her."
Riley squeals, and Maya smiles. "Buddy, I think she already knows."
"Was I that obvious?"
"No, but we may have helped her to notice it. " Riley says
"Why would you do that?"
"Because we told you. We want to set you both up. Besides, I think she is into you too. " Maya says
"Stop teasing me. " I say knowing Maya's nature
"I am not. That's the point. I am serious."
"You legitimately think she is interested in me? "
I can't believe how she can like a nerd like me. I am nowhere near as perfect as her. It's a bit skeptical, but there have been signs before.
Besides, why would two of my best friends lie to me about this?"Oh ya definitely. " Riley says
"Well, can you set me up with her?"
"First say please," Riley says
"Fine. Please." I roll my eyes. "Now, just help me."
"Take her to the concert," Maya says
"I can't. "
"Why not?" Maya says
"It's her choice. She hasn't asked me to go."
"So you want her to ask you out."
"No, I am not saying that. I am saying that it's not my-"
"Wait, why did you get her two tickets then? You wanted her to take you didn't you?" Riley cuts me off
"What no"
Yes
"You are lying. Anyway, I am pretty sure she isn't going to ask you. So either you do it yourself or you are a lost cause." Maya says. However, I am not sure if she is encouraging me or discouraging me.
"Also, you gave her pre-gifts?" Riley asks
"She told you that, huh? That was pretty obvious."
"Yes, it was, but she told us that she thought you gave them to every one of your friends. " Riley says
"Sure would want you to." Maya mumbles
"Wait, so she didn't know that I liked her? Then how do you know?"
"No, I am pretty sure she knew. Also, it was pretty obvious to us that's why we started teasing you." Maya says
"By we you mean you." Riley points out
"It's the same thing."
Riley rolls her eyes
"Ok, so how am I going to ask her out?"
"Well, why don't you pre-ask her out and then post-ask her out?"Maya smiles sarcastically
"Whatever, are you sure she likes me?"
"A hundred percent."
"And you won't tell her?"
"Of course" Riley smiles
"Now go figure out a way to tell her you like her."
"Ok bye."
I exit the bay window. I am so excited to know that a girl that pretty likes me. What do I do? How do I tell her I like her?
Author's note: so this was a bit cringy, but bear with me, please.
