Today is the day to present our reflective journals. I did write something. It should work I think.

We sat down. While Mr. Matthews is writing 'My Reflective Journal' on the blackboard.

"Okay, people, today is the day. Show us what you think reflects your best self. Maya, why don't we start with you, and then whoever is behind you can go afterwards." Matthews speaks out

Maya stands up and shows us a painting she made. It's about 17 inches long.

"This is called 'my tribe' and it reflects exactly that."

It is a vibrant piece celebrating her loved ones. Her mother, Katy, is at the center, surrounded by friends Riley, Lucas, Zay, me and Farkle. Each friend is depicted in bold brushstrokes, conveying their unique personalities.
Shawn Hunter, Maya's father, watches over the group in the background. The color palette is a mix of bright, sunny hues and softer shades, evoking joy, comfort, and togetherness.

Everyone claps and Mr. Matthews says words of affirmation

Lucas and Zay come up next

"We wrote a short  passage together," Lucas says

Lucas: Growing up in Texas taught us toughness,

Zay: But NYC showed us a different way.

Lucas: Taught us strength in vulnerability and trust.

Zay: Supporting others is where true strength lies.

Next comes Riley

"Hi everyone, I am Riley Matthews, and I wrote a poem to reflect my life."

"I'm a city girl with a heart so bright,

I've learned to adapt and make it right.

I've found my strength and learned to forgive,

Life's not always easy, but I'm ready to live.

With friends by my side, I'm never alone,

We'll face life's ups and downs together back home."

Farkle stands up

"As I navigate the ups and downs of adolescence, I'm learning to balance my quirky individuality with empathy for those around me.

Being friends with amazing people taught me the value of loyalty and support.

I have learned to let go of old feelings and develop new ones. I've come to realize that being different isn't something to hide, but rather something to celebrate.

I'm proud to be Farkle Minkus - eccentric, enthusiastic, and unapologetically myself."

It's my turn now. I walk up to the front of the class.

"Hey everyone, I am Gia, and I wrote a short block of text."

I take out a crumbled-up paper from my pocket and start reading.

"This year has been a whirlwind of new experiences and friendships. I'm grateful for the new friends, who've become my rocks. Their families have welcomed me with open arms, making me feel like part of the crew. We've shared countless laughs, adventures, and late-night conversations. Their infectious laugh and adventurous spirit are all I need. Some new feelings have a way of making my heart skip a beat. I cherish our friendships and feel lucky to have them in my life, making every day brighter."

The whole room claps as they did for everyone else. My friends are smiling at me and Mr Matthews praises my text.

"Very well done Gia. You may now take your seat."

I sit down at my desk

"Hey, that was good." Farkle whispers

"Thanks, yours was too," I whisper back

He subtly smiles at me.

Everyone else gets their turn, and eventually, the bell rings.

I reach home and go straight up to my room.

Authors note: I know this was short and late but my exams are going on. I hope that it is fathomable. Thank you for your support. Even though its not much i appreciate to whoever who likes my story.
