I gently placed a kiss on Duncan's cheek, murmuring, "I love you," before tiptoeing out of the house.

Outside, Simon was already waiting, leaning against his car with an annoyingly smug grin.

"Good morning, wifey!" he greeted excitedly.

"Don't call me that," I warned, shooting him a glare as I slipped into the passenger seat, adjusting my sandals to buy myself a few extra seconds to ponder over what the hell was i actually doing.

"You look gorgeous in the dress and necklace I gave you," he added, starting the car.

"You didn't have to," I replied, fastening my seatbelt. "I could've worn something I already own."

"You're my wife—" he began, then quickly corrected himself when I shot him another glare. "I mean, you're playing my wife. And that means you deserve to be treated like a queen."

I rolled my eyes.

"Where are the details about the deal and the meeting?" I asked, shifting gears into focus mode. The last thing I wanted was to walk in clueless and get us both caught.

Simon gestured to the dashboard. "Right there. My assistant compiled everything—just go through the first two pages. Get familiar with the names and faces; I'll handle the rest. Anything I say, just nod."

I flipped open the black folder, scanning through the documents and photos, committing them to memory.

After a ten-minute drive, we pulled up to the towering glass building where the meeting was set to take place. My heart pounded as we walked into the lobby, Simon handling the introductions with the receptionist while I tried to steady my nerves.

A few minutes later, he returned. "The meeting's on the fifth floor. She's notifying Dan Eyi that we've arrived, and then she'll take us up."

I sighed, pinching the bridge of my nose. "First of all, it's Dan Yi Eun. And second, we need to establish some ground rules. One—no touching me. Two—don't agree to anything that involves me. And three—stop calling me 'wifey.'"

Simon frowned, adjusting his tie for what felt like the hundredth time. "Which couple doesn't touch and keeps their distance? That's not going to be believable."

"A couple on the verge of divorce," I shot back.

Before he could argue, the receptionist returned.

"Mr. Dan is ready for you. Please follow me."

Simon took a deep breath, his hands fidgeting with his tie.

I placed a reassuring hand on his arm. "You'll do great."

His expression brightened slightly. "Alright. Let's do this."

We stepped inside the meeting room, where five men and one woman stood to greet us. After a round of introductions and handshakes, we took our seats.

Simon took the lead, seamlessly steering the conversation, while I sat poised, nodding in all the right places.

And so, the charade began.

I was quite bored, nodding my head when and if required. After about ten minutes the meeting was over.

" So Mr wakefield, I can assure you with the ideas you have proposed the proposal is a done deal," Dan Yi Eun said with a smile resting his hands on the wooden table.

Simon immediately looked at me with a smile, his face lighting up with excitement "Congratulations" I mouthed giving a gentle squeeze to his cold hand that was placed on the table.
