The next day, the hotel doors creaked open to reveal Adam, Lute, and Aurielle standing in the doorway. Aurielle, now five years old, peeked around Adam's leg, her golden hair glowing faintly in the dim crimson light of the lobby.
Ava, who had been playing with KeeKee and Asher near the couches, glanced up at the sound of the door. Her face instantly lit up. "Aurielle!" she squealed, jumping to her feet and running toward her friend.
Aurielle broke into a wide grin and bolted forward to meet her halfway, the two girls colliding in a giggling hug. "I missed you!" Ava said excitedly.
"I missed you too!" Aurielle replied, bouncing on her toes.
Adam smiled warmly at the sight, ruffling Ava's hair when she pulled back. "Hey, kiddo. You've been behaving, right?"
"Always!" Ava replied with a grin that was anything but convincing.
Asher, standing behind Ava, crossed his arms with a playful smirk. "Yeah, sure. You? Behaving? That's funny."
Ava stuck her tongue out at him before turning back to Aurielle. "Come on! I've got some new toys I want to show you!"
"Really?" Aurielle asked, her eyes lighting up.
"Yeah! Let's go!" Ava grabbed her friend's hand and started leading her toward the play area.
Asher trailed after them, looking back at Adam. "You coming too, or are you just gonna stand there?"
"I think I'll leave the playing to you guys," Adam said with a chuckle, watching as the children disappeared around the corner.
Lute stepped forward, his expression warm but tired as he extended a hand to Lucifer, who had entered the lobby with Alastor. "Lucifer. Alastor. It's good to see you both again."
Lucifer took Lute's hand and shook it firmly. "And you as well, Lute. I take it things have been... manageable?"
Lute chuckled softly, running a hand through his hair. "As manageable as they can be, considering the circumstances."
Adam leaned against the doorway with a wry grin. "Heaven might've kicked us out, but Hell's got its perks. At least Aurielle's happy."
"She seems to be settling in quite well," Alastor noted, his crimson eyes following the sound of the children's laughter.
"She's resilient," Adam said, his tone softening. "Kids always are."
Lucifer smirked, folding his arms. "Well, we're glad to have you here. Ava's been asking about Aurielle every other day since Sinsmas. The house feels livelier when you're around."
"I'd say the same about Aurielle," Lute admitted. "She talks about Ava and Asher constantly."
"Gremlin Squad forever!" Asher's voice echoed from the play area, followed by a chorus of giggles from the girls.
Adam laughed, shaking his head. "Yeah, sounds about right."
The adults moved into the lounge, the warm atmosphere of the reunion making the vast hotel feel a little cozier. As laughter and chatter filled the space, it was clear that, while Heaven might've rejected them, Hell had given them a family.
Adam leaned back in his chair, swirling the drink in his hand as he exchanged easy banter with Lucifer. The two sat in the hotel's lounge, the warm light casting a relaxed glow over their conversation. Lute had taken charge of the children, keeping them entertained near the play area, their laughter echoing softly in the background.
Aurielle eventually wandered over, her curiosity piqued. She tugged gently on Adam's sleeve. "What're you doing?"
Adam glanced down at her with a smile. "Just catching up with Lucifer, kiddo. Grown-up stuff."
