1 year later...

The soft chime of bells echoed through the luxurious bridal boutique as I stepped inside, feeling a rush of nerves and excitement.

The sunlight poured through the glass windows, bouncing off rows of white gowns that shimmered like snow under a winter moon. My mum was already wiping tears from her eyes, clutching her tissue like it was a lifeline.

"Okay, I'm already emotional!" she exclaimed, her voice thick with pride.

Madelyn nudged me playfully. "Your mom's gonna be a puddle by the time you even zip up the first dress."

I laughed, feeling the warmth of their support., Lily was already perusing the racks with a laser focus, her sharp eye for detail in full swing. "You have to try this one," she said, holding up a sleek satin gown with a plunging neckline.

"And this one!" Madelyn added, grabbing a princess-style dress adorned with sparkling beading.

"Slow down, ladies," Cisca, said with a laugh. "We're not going to overwhelm her—yet."

The shop assistant approached us with a warm smile. "Congratulations on your engagement! I'll be assisting you today. Have you thought about the kind of dress you're looking for?"

I hesitated, suddenly unsure. "Honestly, I'm open to trying anything. I just want to feel like... me. But maybe a little magical."

My mum squeezed my hand. "You'll know it when you see it, sweetheart."

As I stepped into the fitting room, my mom and Cisca settled into plush chairs, their eyes already glistening. Madelyn and Lily hovered nearby, ready to give their brutally honest opinions.

The first dress was stunning—fitted with lace sleeves and a dramatic train. But as I stepped onto the platform, I shook my head. "It's beautiful, but it's not me."

Madelyn tilted her head. "Too much lace. You need something bolder."

Dress after dress, I started to worry I wouldn't find the one. Then the shop assistant brought out a gown she called "timeless but unique." It was simple yet elegant: a fitted crepe bodice with a sweetheart neckline and an ethereal tulle overskirt that flowed like a dream.

As I stepped out in the dress, a hush fell over the room. My mom gasped, her hand flying to her mouth. Cisca's eyes filled with tears, and even Lily, who was usually cool and collected, looked emotional.

"Oh, my God," Madelyn whispered. "That's it."

I turned to the mirror, and my breath caught. This was it. It was classic, elegant, and, most importantly, it felt like me.

"You look stunning," Cisca said softly. "Lando will be speechless."

My mum nodded, tears streaming down her face. "That's my baby girl."

Madelyn wiped at her eyes dramatically. "Okay, who's cutting onions in here?"

We all burst into laughter, breaking the emotional tension, but the decision was already made. This was my dress.

As I stood there surrounded by my mom, Cisca, and my best friends, I felt an overwhelming sense of gratitude. This moment, this dress, and these people—it was everything I could have ever dreamed of.

"Say yes to the dress, babe," Lily said with a grin.

I smiled, tears brimming in my eyes. "Yes. A million times yes."
