......
I stepped out of the study, feeling a mix of emotions. My conversation with Baba had left me with more questions than answers.I pushed the thoughts aside and focused on getting ready for my trip. I headed to the bathroom to take a refreshing bath. The warm water helped calm my nerves, and I felt more energized as I stepped out. I dressed in comfy clothes.
I checked the time on my phone. 9:47. I still had some time before leaving, so I decided to double-check my packing. I opened my suitcase and began to organize my clothes, making sure I hadn't forgotten anything.
Just as I was about to zip the suitcase, someone knocked on the door. "Come in!" I called out.
Nkosenye, walked in and plopped himself on my bed, watching me pack with an amused expression. "You're really taking a lot of stuff," he teased.
I playfully rolled my eyes. " I need my essentials."
As I tried to zip the suitcase, Nkosenye jumped up to help me. "Let me get that for you," he said, struggling to zip it shut.
"It's these things of yours worth 9000, yohh imali yami," he joked, eyeing my belongings.
I laughed. "They're not 9000, but 8600 and something."
Nkosenye chuckled. "Same same, difference difference oksalayo imali yami."
I grinned. "You didn't give me a budget, so I did what I wanted."
Nkosenye shook his head, muttering "Mxm" under his breath. I just laughed and continued packing my toiletries while he zipped the suitcase shut.
With my packing complete, I grabbed my phone to check my WhatsApp messages. Nkosenye glanced at my phone and raised an eyebrow. "Upgrade?"
I smiled, feeling proud of my new phone. "Yep, iPhone 15."
Nkosenye whistled. "Nice! Who got it for you?"
I grinned mischievously. "Obvious, Dad."
Nkosenye nodded and looked back at his phone. He recently upgraded into a 14 pro max from iPhone 12 and only he knows where it is. Hayi mahn lemme ask.
"Where's the 12?"
"I traded it.", Nkosenye said still looking at his phone.
I clapped my hands and was like "yohhh."
Nkosenye laughed, then checked the time. "It's 10:09. Time to go."
I nodded, feeling a mix of excitement and nervousness. With Nkosenye's help, I gathered my belongings and headed downstairs.
As we reached downstairs, my mom looked up at us with a mix of sadness and excitement. "Are you leaving already?" she asked.
Nkosenye nodded. "Yes, our flight is at 11, and we need to arrive at the airport early so we can get snacks on the way."
