I woke up to the sound of my alarm blaring in my ear. I groggily reached over to silence it, rubbing the sleep from my eyes. As a non-morning person, waking up was always a struggle. I tossed off the covers and swung my legs over the side of the bed, planting my feet firmly on the ground.
After a few moments of hesitation, I stood up, stretched, and began to make my way to the bathroom. I grabbed my toilet bag and suitcase, unsure of what to wear for the day. I took them with me to the bathroom, deciding to take a refreshing shower instead of a bath. The warm water helped increase my alertness, making me feel more awake.
As I got out of the shower, I began my morning routine. I washed my face, making sure to cleanse my skin thoroughly. Then, I brushed my teeth, feeling the minty freshness spread through my mouth. I styled my hair, trying to tame the tangles that had formed overnight.
With my morning routine complete, I sat down on the toilet seat and opened my suitcase. I began rummaging through my clothes, trying to decide what to wear. I pulled out a few tops and bottoms, but nothing seemed quite right. I finally settled on a comfortable outfit.
I applied some lotion to keep my skin hydrated and then got dressed. Feeling more awake and refreshed, I made my way downstairs.
Downstairs, I found Nkosenye and Milani already seated in the living room, enjoying their breakfast.
"Good morning,"
Nkosenye and Milani replied in unison, "Good morning!" Milani added, "Your breakfast is in the oven."
I thought to myself, I'm not really hungry for a big breakfast right now shrm . "Is there muesli?" I asked hopefully.
Nkosenye nodded. "Yes, there is."
"I'll have muesli, but I'll save the breakfast for lunch," I said, making my way to the kitchen.
I opened the cupboard and retrieved a bowl, then began to prepare my muesli with yogurt. Once I was done, I climbed onto the counter to eat. I loved sitting on the counter; don't ask why cause nami angazi why but then they have that woza woza thing mahn.
Just as I took my first bite, Milani walked into the kitchen. She chuckled when she saw me sitting on the counter. "I guess I'll have to get used to you sitting on the counter," she teased.
I grinned, feeling a bit mischievous. "Maybe," I replied, taking another bite of my muesli.
As I ate, Milani began rinsing the dishes, trying to make conversation. "So, Melo, what's the story behind the ring on your finger?" Milani asked.
I glanced down at the ring, a small smile playing on my lips. "It's a promise ring, from my boyfriend" I explained.
Milani's eyes widened. "Yohhh you have a boyfriend,if it was on your left hand, I would have thought you were married!" she exclaimed.
