Chapter 1 - Meet Amy

Amy's POV

I am currently sitting in my apartment alone, studying for my test that I have to take in a couple of days.

Hi my name is Amy Evelyn Morin and I am 22 years old. I have a side job of being a photographer. I'm a junior at the University of Houston where I am studying to be a pre-k teacher. I always had a passion of working with children, they are the most precious things in the world and just thinking about one of my students calling me Mrs. Morin brings a small smile one face.

I live only 20 minutes away from the university in my three bedroom apartment which I share with my two cousins, Victoria and Destiny. I've always been close to them even before my parents divorced. I always used to be happy and a care free person but I've become sad and lonely. I love my father, but I rarely saw due to him working during the day and when he would come home, he would eat, sleep and go back to work. I was mainly busy keeping up with school and making sure the chores in my dads house were done. I would go to my moms house every other weekend and it was hell. My mom would abuse me physically and verbally, I didn't tell anyone because she threatened me by getting her boyfriend to hurt my dad and my cousins.

So I've kept quiet for a whole year until I turned 15. Let just say this continues to haunt me.

I realized I'm not really focusing on studying due to my head hurting so I decided to take a break and go to my room to take a little nap.

Dream - flashback 7 years ago

"Mom please stop!!! " I begged as my mom continued to whip me with her belt.

"Why should I stop you whore!!!!"..punch...punch,kick,punch and next thing I knew I was dragged out of my room and thrown onto the kitchen floor.

She grabbed a kitchen knife and started talking to me.
"You really crossed the line with me this time Amy. First you ruined my marriage with your boring ass father for all he gave a damn about was you and God ugh.. You had open your mouth and snitch to your father about my second love life. A man who made me feel good and spoiled me. And now you chased him away because you were jealous of my relationship with him.."

"I was not jealous!!"

"SHUT UP!!!!!" She yelled as she slapped my cheek.

"Now your finally get what you deserve you stupid bitch!"

And with that she grabbed my arm and slit my shoulder and my hand. I screamed out in pain and tears were running down face.

"I hoped you learned your lesson Amy" she said as she spit in my face.

~End of dream and flashback~

I woke screaming and crying and I look up to see my two cousins looking at me with worry and sympathy.

Victoria came over and hugged me tight.

"Hey..hey, hey Amy it's okay, it was only a nightmare that's all your okay, your safe." Destiny said as she rubbed my leg.

"You guys it felt so real, it's like I was reliving that day all over again." I said in between sobs

"But that's in the past and were in the present. You don't have to worry about that day ever again. Me and Destiny will always be here for you and your gonna get better." Victoria said as she rubbed my back.

After about 10 minutes I calmed down and told the girls that I was going to the bathroom. I went into the bathroom and in my secret area, I pulled out my blade. I've started cutting after that night. In a way, it's comforting to me. I pulled down my pants and I dragged the blade across my waist. After about three cuts I put the blades away and cleaned myself up.

I went into the living and sat down with my cousins watching 13 going on 30.

"Hey Amy we got a surprise for you." Destiny said with dumb smirk.

"What y'all do?" I hope it was nothing expensive. After all, I'm not that important.

"We got you this." Victoria said smiling like an idiot.

They gave me an envelope and inside were tickets of the grand opening of Minute Maid Park and we were in the bottom level meaning we were close to the field.

"Omg how did you guys get this." I asked completely shocked.

"We've had these tickets bought for awhile and you deserve to go since you work really hard at school and at your job as photographer as well. We both know how much you love the Astros, it makes us happy to see you smile every time you watch there games and even their interviews. We also love you so much that were even going to the game, though we barely watch baseball." Destiny explained to me.

I got up and hugged both of them.

"Thank you guys so much, but you guys didn't have to do this. I'm just wasting your guys money and I'm not that worth it at all."

"YOUR CRAZY!!!" They both yelled at the same time.

"Amy, everyone in this world matters. Don't you ever think that your not worth it because you matter to us and one day your gonna matter to someone else who's gonna want you to be their life. Victoria said as she had some tears in her eyes.

"I'm sorry guys." I said feeling bad.

"Don't be just know that we love you and we want to see you smile again like you did a long time ago. " Destiny said as she and Victoria hugged me.

"Thanks girls well I'm going to bed so see y'all in the morning." I said.

As I went to bed all the happy thoughts I was having soon turned into darkness and negative thoughts.

I hope one day I can get better.
