"Now are you sure you don't want me and Victoria there with you. We don't mind waiting outside or even going in with you." Destiny said as we sat at the table.
Today was the day I would go to my father's house and talk things out and it will give me an opportunity to say what I never got the chance to say.
"No, this is something I have to do on my own. I have to do this for me. After that is done I'm gonna head to the field for work." I said grabbing my keys.
"Alright but please call or text us if you need us." Victoria said.
"I will." I said walking out the door heading downstairs to the parking lot. I got in my car and set my GPS to my dad's address and started driving in silence.
George has know idea that I'm meeting with my father and there's reasons for that. One is because I want to this on my own. Second is that I want him to focus on himself today. He's done alot for me since we've been together and I want to do this alone.
This is gonna be an eventful day that I know for sure.
Getting closer to my dad's house, my heart was pounding and there was so many butterflies in my stomach. But I pushed through it kept going. After what it felt like forever, I finally arrived at my dad's house. His home was a nice one story brick house. I took one more deep breath and walked out of my car. The more closer I get to his front door the more my heart pounds against my chest.
"Here we go" I whispered to myself then rang the doorbell.
The door opened and it revealed my stepmother that I was un aware about.
"Amy. Glad you made it."
I just nodded. "Yeah."
"Please come in." She said moving aside and opening the door wider for me to step inside. I walk in and I am welcomed with an apple cinnamon smell. She then leads me to the living room and I sit down on the couch.
"Can I get you something to drink or anything." She asked
"No. I'm good thanks." I said.
"Alright." She started to walk away but stopped and said. "You may not care to know but my name is Eva. I also know your only here to talk things out with your father but I want you know...I am truly sorry if I have offended you in anyway. I also want you to know that I tried everyday to convince your father to contact you. He did it in the wrong due to....well he'll explain that." Eva said looking at me with sadness and truth in her eyes.
"Look Eva....you didn't offend me in anyway. If anything I apologize for being rude to you at the park. I was angry at the way my father approached me as if nothing happened between us. I didn't even give you a chance to even introduce yourself. I sure made a hell of an impression as your step daughter huh?" I said to her. Days before, I had thought about Eva and I realized what a complete bitch I was to her and she didn't deserve that.
"It's okay. I wasn't expecting you to welcome me with open arms." She said smiling at me and I smiled back.
My smile dropped when my father came into the living room. The room suddenly got very quiet as my father and I stared at each other. While he stared at me what it seemed like relief in his eyes while I stared back with a plain face.
"I'll leave you two to it. It was nice seeing you again Amy." Eva said kissing my father's cheek and walking outside to the backyard. My dad then made his way to sit in front of me on the couch in front of me. The only thing that gave us distance was the glass coffee table in the middle. Neither one of us spoke a word for a good while until he decided to be bold and speak.
