If there was one thing the Matildas could agree on, it was that Y/n had a truly remarkable talent for falling asleep in the strangest places.
It all began after an exhausting training session. The team was scattered across the lounge, recovering, when someone noticed Y/n had vanished.
"She's probably asleep somewhere," Caitlin Foord said, stretching out on the couch.
Kyra Cooney-Cross smirked. "Five bucks says it's a weird spot this time."
Alana Kennedy snorted. "Weird spot? It's Y/n. That's a given."
Their predictions were confirmed when Alana went looking and found Y/n curled up in a laundry basket, snoozing on top of clean jerseys.
"She's out cold," Alana announced, beckoning the rest of the team to come and see.
Kyra cackled. "Laundry basket? That's a new one."
Mini, the unofficial team mom, crossed her arms in the doorway, shaking her head. "You'll cramp up sleeping like that. Come on, kiddo." She scooped Y/n out of the basket, much to the amusement of the team, and carried her to the couch, where she settled her with a blanket.
The next incident occurred just two days later. Mini went to check on Y/n after dinner and found her asleep in an empty bathtub, legs dangling over the edge.
"Y/n," Mini said gently, crouching beside the tub.
Y/n stirred, blinking groggily. "I was just thinking."
"In the bathtub?" Mini asked, raising an eyebrow.
"It's quiet in here," Y/n mumbled, curling tighter.
Mini chuckled softly. "Come on, let's get you to a proper bed."
A few mornings later, the team found her in the shower. Not showering—just sitting on the floor with her head against the wall, completely asleep.
"She's not serious," Macca said, peeking into the bathroom with Kyra.
"She's serious," Kyra replied, snapping a quick picture.
Mini arrived moments later, sighing as she gently shook Y/n awake. "Kiddo, this is not where you're supposed to nap."
"It's quiet," Y/n mumbled, rubbing her eyes.
Mini shook her head with a soft smile. "Let's find you a better spot."
The kitchen sink incident, however, took the cake.
Kyra and Macca were in the kitchen debating avocado slicing techniques when Kyra froze mid-sentence. "Uh... is Y/n asleep in the sink?"
Sure enough, Y/n was perched on the counter with her head resting on the faucet, snoozing peacefully.
Macca burst out laughing. "This kid is unreal."
When Mini came to investigate, she sighed and helped Y/n off the counter. "Alright, no more naps in precarious spots. You'll fall and hurt yourself."
"Okay," Y/n mumbled, but the team wasn't convinced.
One night, Mini tucked Y/n into bed, only to find her the next morning sprawled on the floor, half-covered by a tangled blanket.
"You have a perfectly good bed," Mini said, nudging her with her foot.
"Floor's cooler," Y/n muttered sleepily.
Kyra, passing by, shook her head. "At this point, she's doing it on purpose."
The team lost it during a game. Subbed off at halftime, Y/n had plopped down on the bench, pulled her jacket over her shoulders, and promptly fallen asleep.
"She's not...?" Alana asked, glancing toward the sideline.
"She is," Caitlin said, laughing as Y/n's head lolled to the side, soft snores escaping her lips.
The coach just shook their head, muttering, "As long as she wakes up for the post-match meeting."
But the moment that cemented Y/n's reputation was during a cool-down session after practice. Mini had wrapped Y/n in a warm hug, trying to comfort her after a tough day, when she suddenly felt Y/n go limp in her arms.
"She's asleep," Mini said, incredulous but smiling.
Kyra doubled over with laughter. "She fell asleep in your hug? That's next-level!"
Mini just chuckled, carefully guiding Y/n to a nearby bench. "What can I say? She trusts me."
The final straw came during a practice match. The team was running drills when Alana noticed Y/n lying in the middle of the field, arm draped over her face.
"She's down!" Alana called, jogging over.
"She's not hurt, is she?" Caitlin asked, worried.
"Nope," Alana said, crouching beside Y/n. "She's asleep."
The team burst into laughter as Mini walked over, shaking her head. "Alright, nap queen, up you get. Can't have you becoming part of the turf."
Later that night, as Y/n dozed on the couch during movie night, Mini tucked a blanket around her shoulders, smiling softly.
"She really can sleep anywhere," Alana said, shaking her head.
Mini brushed a strand of hair from Y/n's face. "As long as she's safe and resting, that's all that matters. She's got us looking out for her."
And she did—because no matter where Y/n decided to crash, the Matildas would always be there to make sure she woke up safe, loved, and ready for whatever came next.
