The Matildas' training center was alive with energy, the usual blend of music, laughter, and the rhythmic thud of soccer balls bouncing across the field. Y/n was right in the middle of it, her ADHD-fueled energy driving her through the drills faster than anyone else.
"Y/n! Slow down before you trip over yourself!" Mini called from the sidelines, arms crossed but a gentle smile tugging at her lips.
"I'm fine, Mini!" Y/n shouted back, a little too enthusiastically, as she launched herself into the next set of drills.
Kyra, standing nearby, rolled her eyes. "She's like a wind-up toy that never stops. You're going to burn out at this rate, Y/n."
"I've got this!" Y/n replied, ignoring the tug of fatigue beginning to creep in.
As the session wore on, Y/n started to feel the telltale signs creeping in: her vision blurred slightly, her heart raced faster than it should, and the world around her felt oddly distant. She pushed through, determined not to let anyone notice.
But Kyra was already watching her like a hawk.
"Oi, Y/n," Kyra said, jogging over during a break. "You okay? You're looking a little pale."
"I'm fine," Y/n muttered, brushing her off. "Just tired."
Kyra narrowed her eyes. "Tired-tired or about-to-pass-out tired?"
"Neither!" Y/n insisted, but her voice wavered just enough for Kyra to catch it.
"Mini!" Kyra yelled toward the bench. "Your child's lying again!"
Mini was by Y/n's side in seconds, her motherly instincts kicking in. "Y/n, look at me," she said firmly. "Are you feeling faint?"
"I—" Y/n didn't get to finish her sentence before her knees buckled.
Mini caught Y/n before she hit the ground, lowering her gently to the grass. The rest of the team gathered around, concern etched on their faces.
"Someone get water," Mini ordered, her voice calm but commanding.
Caitlin sprinted off while Alana crouched down beside Mini. "She okay?"
"She'll be fine," Mini replied, brushing Y/n's hair back from her clammy forehead. "She just pushed herself too hard again."
Y/n's eyes fluttered open moments later, her face scrunching in embarrassment. "I'm fine," she mumbled.
"Yeah, no," Kyra said, crossing her arms. "You literally just fainted. That's not 'fine.'"
"Listen to Kyra for once," Mini added gently. "You need to rest, sweetheart. No more pushing yourself like this."
After the fainting spell, Y/n was benched for the rest of the session, much to her frustration. She sat on the sidelines, wrapped in a blanket and sipping water, while the team continued their drills.
Kyra plopped down beside her, handing her a protein bar. "Here. Eat this. You're probably low on something important, like sugar. Or common sense."
Y/n snorted, unwrapping the bar. "You're so annoying."
"Part of my charm," Kyra replied with a grin. "Seriously, though, you scared us. Don't do that again."
"I wasn't trying to faint," Y/n muttered.
"Yeah, well, maybe try listening to your body next time," Kyra said, nudging her shoulder. "We're a team, remember? You don't have to push through everything on your own."
Later, as they gathered in the lounge, the team made sure Y/n felt the love. Alana brought her a plate of food, Caitlin made her tea, and Macca kept her entertained with bad jokes.
Mini sat beside her, wrapping an arm around her shoulders. "We're all here for you, Y/n. But you have to meet us halfway, okay? Take care of yourself."
Y/n nodded, tears welling in her eyes. "I'm sorry for scaring you."
"It's okay, sweetheart," Mini said softly. "You're our baby, and we're always going to look out for you."
Kyra, leaning against the couch, smirked. "She's right. But if you faint again, I'm calling you 'Fainty McFaintface' for the rest of your life."
The room erupted in laughter, and for the first time that day, Y/n felt completely at ease. She might have her challenges, but with this team, she knew she'd never face them alone.
