The gym echoed with the rhythmic thuds of weights hitting the ground and sneakers squeaking on the rubber floor. Y/n was bouncing a medicine ball against the wall, her ADHD energy ramped up after a long morning. Across the room, Kyra was spotting Macca on the bench press, shooting the occasional glance at Y/n.
"Oi, Y/n, can you not do that near the weights?" Kyra called out, her voice tinged with irritation.
Y/n caught the ball mid-bounce, narrowing her eyes. "Why does it matter? I'm not bothering anyone."
"You're bothering me," Kyra shot back, walking closer. "It's distracting, and you're gonna end up hurting someone."
Y/n huffed, rolling her eyes. "You're not my boss, Kyra. Just mind your own business."
"I wouldn't have to if you weren't acting like a hyperactive kid all the time!"
Y/n's temper flared. "Well, maybe if you stopped treating me like one, I wouldn't have to!"
Kyra took a step closer, her tone sharp. "Maybe I treat you like one because you act like one!"
Y/n's jaw clenched, her hands tightening around the medicine ball. "Take that back."
"Or what?" Kyra challenged, crossing her arms.
Without thinking, Y/n shoved Kyra in the shoulder. Kyra stumbled back slightly but came right back, shoving her in return.
"Don't push me," Kyra warned.
"Then stop being such a—" Y/n didn't finish her sentence before Kyra lunged forward, and the next thing anyone knew, a wild swing was thrown. Y/n ducked and retaliated with a punch of her own, catching Kyra on the shoulder.
"HEY! Break it up!" Caitlin's voice boomed as she and Alana rushed to separate them.
Macca grabbed Y/n from behind, pulling her back as Caitlin grabbed Kyra. Both were squirming and yelling at each other.
"She started it!" Y/n screamed.
"You shoved me first!" Kyra shot back, her voice just as loud.
"ENOUGH!" Mini's voice cut through the chaos like a knife. The gym fell silent as everyone turned to see her standing in the doorway, arms crossed and her expression thunderous.
"Locker room. Now. Both of you," she ordered, her tone leaving no room for argument.
Y/n and Kyra stormed off, their anger still simmering, while the rest of the team exchanged worried looks.
In the locker room, Mini stood between the two, her piercing gaze moving from Y/n to Kyra.
"Sit down," she ordered.
They both dropped onto the bench, arms crossed and glaring at opposite walls.
"Start talking," Mini said firmly. "Kyra, you first."
Kyra huffed. "She doesn't listen, Mini. She's always bouncing off the walls, doing whatever she wants. It's dangerous, and it's driving me insane."
Mini turned to Y/n. "Your turn."
Y/n fidgeted, still glaring at the floor. "She's always on my case, like I can't do anything right. I'm trying, but it feels like she's just waiting for me to mess up."
Mini took a deep breath, her expression softening. "Kyra, you're frustrated because you care about Y/n, right?"
Kyra hesitated, then nodded. "Yeah... I do. I just want her to focus and be safe."
Mini looked at Y/n. "And Y/n, Kyra's tough on you because she sees your potential. But you need to understand that she's not trying to hurt you—she's trying to help you."
Y/n glanced at Kyra, her shoulders slumping. "I guess I didn't think of it like that. Sorry I hit you."
Kyra sighed. "Yeah, me too. I shouldn't have lost it like that."
Mini's stern expression returned. "Good. Now that we've got that cleared up, here's what's going to happen. You're going to run 20 laps together before training tomorrow. And if I ever catch you two fighting again, it'll be 50 laps. Am I clear?"
"Yes, Mini," they muttered in unison.
"Good. Now go apologize to the team for disrupting the session," Mini said, ushering them out.
Back in the gym, Y/n and Kyra approached the group sheepishly.
"Sorry, everyone," Y/n mumbled.
"Yeah, we messed up," Kyra added.
Caitlin smirked. "Glad to see Mini worked her magic."
"Don't worry," Alana said with a grin. "You'll have plenty of time to bond during those laps tomorrow."
As the tension eased, Y/n glanced at Kyra. "Hey, thanks for not punching me in the face."
Kyra chuckled. "Yeah, well, you're lucky I like you, kid."
And just like that, the family dynamic was restored—bruises and all.
