HELLO FROM THE OTHER SIDE

"Ben, the ceiling!" I screeched.

Ben looked up, grabbed his Kirlia and retreated to the wall opposite to mine, since he wouldn't have had enough time to make it over to my side of the room.

I barely had time to grab my Kirlia and run back to my side of the room.

Kirlia screamed for the other Kirlia. Those Kirlia definitely knew each other. Friends, maybe?

Once the dust settled, I noticed that the glowing lights had mostly gone out. I felt uneasy with the prospect of having to feel my way out of this cavern like a blind man. I hate the dark.

Next, I checked to see if everyone was alright. Yuka was getting to her feet, feeling around for the ukelele that fell off of her back. I prayed that Yuka's instrument wasn't crushed under the rocks for Yuka's sake.

I would've tried to help Yuka, but the Kirlia's constant pacing and frantic cries were starting to become more annoying than heartbreaking.

"Listen, Kirlia." I started. She didn't listen to me. She wouldn't listen to whatever calming words Yuka managed between her endless search for her ukelele, either.

Kirlia seemed desperate to see the other Kirlia.

"Listen!" I said louder, thankfully getting her attention. "If we want to find your friend, we're gonna need to find a way out. Ben's smart enough to be able to find a way out!"

I hope, I added silently.

Kirlia listened to me now, as if I had garnered her full attention now.

"I'm not going to keep calling you Kirlia, though." I grumbled. "It's just not as personable. Besides, if we're in this together, then I'm going need to be able to call you something that'll get your attention quickly."

Kirlia nodded as if she fully understood what I was saying. As I was trying to figure out a suitable name, however makeshift it was, I noticed Kirlia was doing bourrées around the dark ruins. It was almost as if she was in a ballet recital right now.

(A/N: A bourrée is a ballet term where- Actually, just look it up. It's really straightforward and it's the exact movements Kirlias can be seen making in the video games and the anime. But to understand what I'm talking about, I highly suggest looking it up.)

That's it. I should give her a name from a ballet. Coppelia? No. Juliet? Doesn't really fit. Odette? Pretty, sure, but I think I can do a little better than that...

Gizelle. That's perfect!

"Gizelle." I stated. The Kirlia perked her head up immediately, as if she knew I was talking about her. "I'll call you Gizelle."

Gizelle tittered in agreement before going back to her anxious bourrées.

Okay, now that formalities were out of the way, we should try to find a way out of this.

Now I was actually glad I didn't bring Eve and Jet. Since Jet was limping, he would've been crushed by the falling rocks and Eve was walking slowly because her chest seemed to be causing her pain when she moves.

I used my hands to feel the area in front of me. I could hardly see in the little amount of light we had, and I wanted to make sure that we weren't completely surrounded by walls and rubble.

If I only had a Pokemon friend that could dig through rock. Maybe Evee (A/N: Yes Evee, not Eevee. Evee is a nickname for Evelyn, which is part of the reason I chose the name for our fluffy little friend.) could've. Well, even if she could, I wouldn't have put that kind of stress on Eve in her condition.

I really need to find a vet.

Even if I do, I still wouldn't make a tiny Pokemon like Evelyn take on a giant wall of rubble like that. I'm not cruel.

I found a stairwell leading up. Where the fuck was this place hiding that? You can't just hide a fucking stairway in a ruin like this. I guess I have to give more credit to the ancient people, huh? If it wasn't for their paranoia of everything going to shit, I probably wouldn't have an alternative out of here.

I called Yuka and Gizelle over. "I think I might've found a way out of this room... But there's no guarantee that this leads to anywhere. It could easily be a dead end." I babbled nervously. I'm stalling, I realized. "But we'll never know unless we actually go down there!" I finished.

The Pokemon nodded in agreement.

Yuka made her body glow brighter with the rush of electricity flowing through her tiny body and we walked down the stairs.

This was probably a bad idea, going down random staircases, but the stairs I previously went up had been a casualty of the ruins collapsing.

One thing was for sure; Leanne needed to get on those archeologists' asses for not making sure that the ruins wouldn't collapse. What if some tourists were trapped underneath this structure right now? Granted, no one hardly came up to these parts, but my point still stands.

The room that we ended out with was narrow and long, like a passageway. I couldn't see very well, but I could tell from the very little I could see.

Gizelle's sensors started to glow. I was slightly relieved at the sight. Why didn't she do that to begin with? Maybe something triggered it. I don't know a lot about Psychic-Type Pokemon, but I knew that Gizelle's sensors wouldn't glow unless they had a reason. And right now, it looked like she was using them for something. Maybe she was attempting to locate her friend by trying to sense his aura. That's just my guess, anyways.

Gizelle's eyes lit up noticeably, considering there was hardly any light. She began to chassé (A/N: There is going to be a lot of ballet terms since Kirlias are practically the ballerinas of the Pokemon world. If you see a foreign word like this, it's a ballet term. And I'd advise looking it up if you want a visual.) across the dimly lit floor, as if she had found something.

I motioned for Yuka to follow her. Yuka seemed down and I realized that it was because her ukelele was no where to be found. I silently promised to get her a new one. But for now, I had to focus on keeping Gizelle in my sight.

We might've found a way out of here.
