What We Do In The Shadows: "Jen..."
Summary: There are unexpected consequences when Laszlo seeks a new human familiar...
Part CIX...
"Sorry to interrupt a modern Austin romance..." Colin smiles. "Don't mind me, I'll be on my merry in a sec." he moves to a cabinet, opening and pulling a mug down. "Just give me a sec to find the cocoa and use that neat boiling water faucet thing."
"Mr. Robinson..." Althea eyes Colin coolly, as she stands by Derek near the huge kitchen island. "Lets not kid around. I know what you are and you know who I am. You try to drain me and you'll be very sorry."
"Aye." Derek agrees.
"Hey, just here for cocoa. And I've pledged not to drain the guests, etc..." Colin, smirking but a bit of steel under...
"Funny...I understand Ms Zeller's girl was looking a bit peaked." Althea, calmly.
"Are you looking for a fight, young lady?" Colin, eyes narrowing.
"Althea?" Dr. Acura enters, followed by Phyllis... "We missed you outside. Are you about ready to go?" eyeing Derek. Phyllis smiling at the two, then eyeing Colin.
"Just getting a glass of water, Dad." She raises glass on island.
"Well, we should be going. Mr. Robinson? I've not had the pleasure." Acura nodding to Colin.
"Doc..." Colin smiling.
"As you know, Dracula." Dracula eyes him.
"Oh, yeah..." Colin nods.
"Good. Then I trust my reputation precedes me. Even among emotional vampires." Iron cold tone. "As well as my redemption and my affection for my daughter."
"Oh, sure. But I'm just having a pleasant chat with these two kids while getting my cocoa. There." Colin reaches for and brings down cocoa can. "Just let me get some tepid water from our fancy-schmanzy faucet and a couple of spoonfuls in this sucker and I'll leave you to your family business."
"Certainly. And a very good evening to you. It was a wonderful party." Dracula nods, eyes fixing on Colin.
Hmmn...They say he can block drains...And I'm getting distinctly nervous.
Best not to try him just now. Colin puts two spoonsfuls in his mug, adding water from the boiling tap, then cold, and with friendly nod, heads out the main kitchen door to the living room.
"Dr. Van Helsing..." he grins at Phyllis, nodding as he goes out. She returning nod with smile.
"Interesting fellow. Reasonably powerful." Acura looks after Colin. "Althea?" he turns back to her. "Never underestimate a foe, particularly an energy-draining one."
"Got try those blocking techniques you taught me sometime, Dad." She smiles. "Dr. VH, nice host."
Derek staring...
"Just temporary, for the evening, a precaution to allow me some ability to assist, my girl." Phyllis notes. "And right now my poor hostess is a bit confused as to her feelings. I felt it best I keep her calm tonight, what with the various events. But I will vacate shortly. Though I have to admit, it has been pleasant to experience mortality again for a bit more than usual."
"Just take care old friend, even you can be tempted." Acura smiles. Then eyes Derek sternly but a slight sly twinkle... "Well, young man. I think you and I will need to sit down and discuss affairs soon. Though perhaps not this evening. We'll set up a time."
"Dad..." Althea, sighing.
"So long as you're underage, my and your mother and aunt's rules hold, Althea." Stern look. "They may be a bit old-fashioned but they're dependable and have worked for hundreds of years, and not only for aristocrats. Still, William..." he eyes Derek. "I am aware of your history and situation and that you are a fine man in your way. Just accept I'm a loving, but somewhat old-school, father. Which I think, given your history you can appreciate."
