The bustling city streets were alive with the chatter of people, the glow of neon signs and the hum of car engines. Xie Lian had always been content with a simple life, finding joy in little things..cooking his own meals, tending to his tiny apartment and walking through the local parks.
Hua Cheng, however..had a different philosophy. To him, Xie Lian deserved the best of everything. Every luxury, every comfort, every happiness..Hua Cheng wanted to provide it all.
Today, Hua Cheng had decided to take Xie Lian on a rare shopping trip, insisting that Xie Lian needed a few things to “upgrade” his modest lifestyle. Xie Lian...of course, was reluctant but Hua Cheng wasn’t the type to take no for an answer.
The sleek black car pulled up outside a high-end department store, its polished surface gleaming under the afternoon sun. Hua Cheng stepped out first, walking around to open the door for Xie Lian.
“San Lang, isn’t this store a bit too…” Xie Lian hesitated, glancing at the opulent glass facade. “…Extravagant?”
Hua Cheng smiled, his crimson eye sparkling with mischief. “Not at all. It’s just right for you, Gege.”
Xie Lian sighed, already sensing he was in for a long day. “I really don’t need anything, San Lang.”
“You don’t need it but you deserve it.” Hua Cheng replied smoothly, offering his hand. “Come on. Indulge me.”
Reluctantly, Xie Lian took his hand and allowed himself to be led into the store. The interior was every bit as luxurious as the exterior with soft lighting, marble floors and shelves filled with designer items.
“San Lang, this place is-”
“Perfect for you.” Hua Cheng interrupted, already steering him toward a section filled with elegant coats.
“San Lang, wait!” Xie Lian protested as Hua Cheng picked up a long, cream-colored coat and held it up to him.
“This one suits you, don’t you think?” Hua Cheng said, his gaze soft but determined.
Xie Lian touched the fabric hesitantly. “It’s beautiful, but I can’t...”
“You can and you will” Hua Cheng said firmly, handing the coat to an attendant. “We’ll take this one. Gege, keep looking.”
“San Lang, you’re being ridiculous..” Xie Lian said, trying to sound stern but failing to hide the fondness in his voice.
Hua Cheng smirked, leaning closer. “Ridiculous is my middle name when it comes to you.”
Xie Lian groaned softly, though his cheeks were tinged pink. “At least let me pay for something myself.”
“Absolutely not” Hua Cheng said, waving off the suggestion. “Your only job today is to pick what you like. Leave the rest to me.”
As they moved through the store, Hua Cheng continued to pick out items..sweaters, scarves even shoes while ignoring Xie Lian’s growing protests.
“San Lang, I can’t possibly wear all of this” Xie Lian said as Hua Cheng handed another set of clothes to an attendant.
“You can” Hua Cheng said casually. “And you will. You’ll look amazing in all of it.”
Xie Lian stopped walking and turned to face him, his expression both exasperated and touched. “San Lang, you don’t have to do this. I don’t need expensive things to be happy..."
Hua Cheng’s gaze softened and he stepped closer, his voice lowering. “I know you don’t, Gege. But I want to do this. Let me spoil you, just this once.”
Xie Lian hesitated, his heart aching at Hua Cheng’s sincerity. “But I feel bad… It’s too much.”
“Too much?” Hua Cheng echoed, his lips quirking into a teasing smile. “Gege, there’s no such thing as too much when it comes to you.”
Before Xie Lian could respond, Hua Cheng leaned in and pressed a soft kiss to his forehead. “You’ve given so much to the world, Gege. Let me give something back to you.”
Xie Lian’s cheeks flushed and he looked away, trying to hide his smile. “You’re impossible, San Lang.."
“Only for you..” Hua Cheng said, his tone light but his gaze unwavering.
They continued through the store, Xie Lian gradually giving up on protesting and instead focusing on enjoying Hua Cheng’s company. When they reached the accessories section, Xie Lian’s eyes were drawn to a simple silver bracelet displayed on a velvet cushion.
“Do you like it?” Hua Cheng asked, noticing the way Xie Lian’s gaze lingered.
“It’s… nice” Xie Lian admitted, his voice hesitant.
Hua Cheng didn’t waste a moment. He signaled to the attendant and had the bracelet added to their growing pile of purchases.
“San Lang!” Xie Lian exclaimed. "I was just looking!"
“Looking means you want it” Hua Cheng said with a grin. “And if you want it, it’s yours.”
Xie Lian sighed, shaking his head but unable to suppress the warmth spreading through his chest.
By the time they left the store, Hua Cheng carrying several bags effortlessly, Xie Lian couldn’t help but laugh. “San Lang, I think we’ve single-handedly boosted their sales for the month.”
“Good” Hua Cheng said, his tone unapologetic. “Anything to make you smile like that.”
Xie Lian stopped walking and turned to face him, his expression softening. “San Lang… thank you. Really. I don’t know what I did to deserve you.”
Hua Cheng’s smile softened and he leaned down, brushing his lips gently against Xie Lian’s. “You existed, Gege. That’s all I’ve ever needed.”
Xie Lian’s heart swelled and he leaned into the kiss, his hands resting lightly on Hua Cheng’s chest. For a moment, the bustling city around them seemed to fade away, leaving only the two of them in their own little world.
When they finally pulled apart, Hua Cheng’s grin returned, more playful now. “Shall we find somewhere to eat, Gege? My treat..of course.”
Xie Lian laughed, his eyes shining with affection. “Fine. But I get to choose the place this time.”
“Sure, anything for you..” Hua Cheng said, his arm wrapping protectively around Xie Lian’s shoulders as they walked off into the vibrant city.
