Xie Lian had long since accepted that Hua Cheng was utterly..shamelessly devoted to him. But what he hadn’t expected was just how fun it was to tease him.

It started as an experiment..small things, like lightly brushing Hua Cheng’s hair out of his face, calling his name in a softer voice or playfully poking his cheek. And every time, Hua Cheng would either smirk knowingly or pull him closer like a greedy dragon hoarding treasure.

But today, Xie Lian decided to test something new.

Something bolder.

Something... dangerous.

And it turned out, teasing a man like Hua Cheng came with unexpected consequences.
_

Xie Lian was sitting in Hua Cheng’s lap. Not that he planned to but Hua Cheng had simply pulled him in without a care and wrapping his arms around his waist like it was the most natural thing in the world.

“San Lang” Xie Lian started sweetly, tilting his head.

Hua Cheng, who had been casually playing with Xie Lian’s sleeve and hummed in response. “Hm? What is it, Gege? You want me to do something?"

Xie Lian’s lips curled into a smile. He leaned in just a little..enough to make it seem like he had some grand secret to share.

Then, in the softest.. most teasing tone he could manage, he whispered. “...San Lang Gege~”

The effect was instantaneous.

Hua Cheng froze. Completely, utterly motionless.

His hand which had been gently tracing patterns on Xie Lian’s back, stopped. His usual smirk vanished. His single crimson eye widened ever so slightly as if his brain had completely shut down.

Xie Lian blinked. “San Lang?”

Nothing. Hua Cheng didn’t move. Didn’t speak. Didn’t even breathe.

His face remained frozen in that same unreadable expression.

A beat of silence. Then another.

Xie Lian felt a tiny drop of panic creep up his spine.

“…San Lang?” He gently shook Hua Cheng’s shoulder.

No response.

Xie Lian’s brows furrowed in genuine concern. He cupped Hua Cheng’s face in his hands, patting his cheeks lightly.

“San Lang, are you okay? Did I...did I break you?” Xie Lian’s voice grew more worried.

Still..Hua Cheng remained perfectly still, like a beautiful yet tragically malfunctioning statue.

Xie Lian panicked.

“Oh no, oh no. I broke him-” he muttered to himself. “I didn’t mean to! I was just teasing! San Lang, come back to mee!!”
