Hearts Entwined in a Fractured World

Part 14: Shattered Boundaries

Subaru sat frozen on the edge of the bed, dread pooling in his stomach as Beatrice, Petra, and Meili stepped into the cabin. The magical barrier Pandora had cast moments ago crumbled into fragments under Beatrice’s powerful dispel.

The three girls' gazes shifted from Subaru to Pandora and Ryuzu, who were still draped in the blanket, their expressions calm but defiant.

“Care to explain yourself, I suppose?” Beatrice’s voice cut through the tense silence, her sharp eyes locking onto Subaru.

“Uh, well…” Subaru stammered, searching for a way to salvage the situation.

“Don’t lie, Subaru!” Petra interrupted, her cheeks flushed with frustration. “What are you doing out here with them? We’ve been looking everywhere for you!”

Meili crossed her arms, narrowing her eyes at Pandora and Ryuzu. “This doesn’t look very innocent. Care to explain, big brother?”

Subaru raised his hands defensively. “This isn’t what it looks like, I swear!”

Pandora chuckled softly, unfazed by the accusations. “Isn’t it, though? You’re the one who shared this moment with us, Subaru. There’s no need to hide it.”

“Shut it, Pandora!” Subaru snapped, his panic mounting.

Ryuzu yawned softly, sitting up and rubbing her eyes. “You’re making too much noise, I suppose. Can’t we all just sit down and talk?”

Petra’s face turned red with indignation. “Talk? About what? How you’ve been keeping Subaru all to yourselves while we’ve been worried sick?!”

Beatrice stepped forward, her small frame brimming with authority. “Enough, I suppose. Subaru, come with us right now. You have some explaining to do.”

Pandora tilted her head, her serene smile never wavering. “I don’t think he wants to leave just yet. Do you, Subaru?”

Subaru groaned, burying his face in his hands. “This is a nightmare…”

Tensions Rise

As the confrontation escalated, Pandora and Ryuzu calmly defended their actions, claiming that their feelings for Subaru were genuine. Beatrice, Petra, and Meili, however, were less than convinced.

“You kidnapped him!” Petra accused, pointing an accusing finger at Pandora.

Pandora shrugged, her expression unreadable. “Subaru came willingly. Didn’t you, Subaru?”

“Don’t drag me into this!” Subaru cried, his voice muffled by his hands.

Ryuzu sighed, stepping between Pandora and the girls. “Enough bickering, I suppose. Fighting won’t solve anything.”

Beatrice’s eyes narrowed. “Then what do you propose? Sharing him, I suppose?”

Pandora’s smile widened. “Exactly.”

The room fell silent. Subaru’s head shot up, his face pale. “Wait, what?!”

Petra and Meili looked at each other, their expressions a mixture of shock and indignation. Beatrice’s lips pressed into a thin line, her magic flaring slightly.

“You can’t be serious, I suppose,” Beatrice said, her tone cold.

Pandora stepped closer to Subaru, placing a hand on his shoulder. “Why not? Subaru has a kind heart. There’s no reason he can’t care for all of us equally.”

Subaru flinched, his mind spinning. “This isn’t how relationships work! You can’t just—”

“Why not?” Meili interrupted, her voice uncharacteristically soft. “If Subaru cares about us, then maybe…”

Petra gasped. “Meili! You can’t possibly be okay with this!”

Meili shrugged, her gaze fixed on Subaru. “I just want big brother to be happy. If this makes him happy, then…”

Subaru’s heart sank. “I don’t even know how I feel right now!”

The Proposal

Pandora clasped her hands together, her voice calm and persuasive. “Let’s put it to the test. Subaru can spend time with each of us individually. No pressure, no expectations. He’ll decide what’s best for his heart.”

Beatrice hesitated, glancing at Petra and Meili. The younger girls seemed uncertain, but a hint of curiosity flickered in their eyes.

“And if he doesn’t choose you, I suppose?” Beatrice asked, her tone skeptical.

Pandora’s smile softened. “Then I will accept his decision. Will you?”

The room grew quiet as the girls considered the proposal. Subaru sat in stunned silence, unable to believe the direction the conversation had taken.

Ryuzu stepped forward, her voice gentle. “This isn’t about winning or losing, I suppose. It’s about what makes Subaru happy.”

Subaru groaned, clutching his head. “Why is this happening to me?!”

To be continued…

In Part 15, Subaru reluctantly agrees to Pandora’s proposal, setting the stage for a series of heartfelt and chaotic encounters with each girl. Will he find clarity amidst the turmoil, or will the web of emotions only grow more tangled? Stay tuned!
