"I say he killed someone he wasn't supposed to," [Name] said, raising their hand like they were making a bet. If the clown was willing to kill someone now, it would totally be something he would do. He doesn't look like the type to follow the rules too.
Tonpa nodded in agreement. "Last year, Hisoka was a virtual lock to pass the exam, but then he almost killed an examiner he didn't like."
Leorio looked completely shocked, his eyes wide. He sputtered out, "A-and they're still letting him retake the exam this year?"
"You'd think that would be illegal or something," [Name] grumbled under their breath, clearly annoyed. If the Examiners had, they wouldn't have to be so cautious around the clown bastard.
"Of course," Tonpa replied, his expression serious now. "Every year, the examiners and the test contents change, and the examiners are the ones who pick the new challenges. The devil himself could pass, as long as the examiners say so. That's just how the Hunter Exam works." He paused for a moment, then added, "Anyway, no one likes him. You should stay away from him, too."
"Clearly, he's the strongest one here," [Name] said, gesturing to Hisoka. "I mean, he almost killed an examiner, someone with years of experience. That's pretty messed up." Their words hit home for the others, a chill running down their spines.
"He looks dangerous. That much is for sure," Leorio muttered, looking over at Hisoka. The others nodded in agreement.
"I mean, he does look like a clown though." [Name] pointed out. Gon tilted his head, squinting.
"He does actually." Gon agreed with a smile.
Kurapika sighed, clearly down with the kids antics. "Doesn't make him any less dangerous."
"Amen." Leorio followed with [Name] reluctantly nodding in agreement. Although, they would love to see Marhoge beat the clown up into a bloody pulp. It would be plan A just in case.
"Oh, right..." Tonpa's eyes widened as he quickly changed the subject. He rummaged through his bag, clearly eager to shift the focus, which caught the others' attention. They watched curiously as he pulled out some soda cans. "A little something to mark our acquaintance," he said with a grin, raising the cans to the group.
The others seemed excited at the offer, but [Name] crossed their arms and gave him a doubtful glare. There was no way they were buying this act. He wasn't offering the soda out of the goodness of his heart. This was the Hunter Exam. There was a good chance he'd slipped something into the cans, or worse, he was trying to get their trust just so he could betray them later. [Name] wasn't stupid. All adults are bastards, even Leorio. They would never admit that Leorio was slowly growing on them, never in a million years even under toture.
"Oh, appreciated!" Leorio exclaimed, flashing a grin. He took one of the cans eagerly. "I was just about to say I'm thirsty..."
Tonpa handed a can to Kurapika and Gon, both of whom offered polite thanks. Then he handed one to [Name], his eyes glinting with a strange, almost smug look.
[Name] stared at the can for a moment like it had personally offended their entire bloodline. Well, their bloodline are shitty people though. Gon nudged them with his elbow, giving them a small, encouraging smile. [Name] could tell they had to take it, but they weren't happy about it.
"Hmph," [Name] muttered, taking the can without a word of thanks. Tonpa's eye twitched in annoyance, clearly pissed off by the kid's attitude. I'm so going to make this kid's life hell, he thought, clenching his jaw as he watched [Name] hold the soda disinterested in it.
"Good luck to us all!" Tonpa cheered, raising his can in the air and gesturing for everyone to follow his lead. The group clinked their cans together, though [Name] didn't exactly join in with the same enthusiasm as the others.
