"So this is the fucker who was following us..." [Name] mumbled under their breath, but Gon caught it.

"Language," Gon chided, a serious look on his face.

[Name] playfully rolled their eyes. "Sure," they replied, a teasing tone in their voice that brought a bright smile to Gon's face. Unbeknownst to him, [Name] had crossed their fingers behind their back, thinking, *What he doesn't know won't hurt him.* It was too late to back out now; no one had warned them about the consequences. After all, nobody wanted to cross the heir of the Zenin clan.

"Who are you?" Leorio asked, squinting at the man.

Gon tilted his head, a small frown creasing his brow. "You don't know? He followed us here, all the way from the port." He then looked at [Name]. "You noticed it too, right, [Name]?"

[Name] nodded, crossing their arms with a slight scowl. "Yeah. My... abilities have sensed him the whole time." A menacing smile crept across their face as they wiggled their fingers mockingly. "I was about to... get rid of him."

Leorio and Kurapika exchanged glances, their expressions suggesting they thought [Name] was just playing around.

"Uh, how about you don't do that," Leorio said, placing a hand on his temple, feeling the weight of the situation. He worried [Name] might be a handful. Why couldn't they be more like Gon, who was smiling as if he hadn't registered [Name]'s words?

The stranger, however, appeared unfazed by [Name]'s threats. He shrugged, a smug expression on his face. "Sorry, kids. I happened to overhear your conversation."

"So what will you do?" the elderly lady interjected, her tone calm and unfazed by the ongoing conversation.

Leorio sighed, glancing at the others. "Well, he seems eager to take it." His eyes widened suddenly as an idea struck him, and he snapped his fingers. "We should let him go first. That way, we'll know what kind of question to expect."

"I don't mind!" Gon chirped with a bright smile, stepping aside to let the man pass.

Kurapika crossed his arms, offering a resigned sigh. "No objection here."

"I don't care," [Name] shrugged, wearing a nonchalant expression. "We're going to have to do it either way."

The man grinned, clearly amused by their banter. "Then I'll get to it."

[Name] raised an eyebrow, sensing the man's intentions written plainly on his face as he prepared to answer. They scoffed, rolling their eyes. If he answered correctly, they planned to use one of their Shikigami to take him out. One less person to worry about in the exam was a good strategy in their opinion. They definitely will not tell the others especially Gon who will tell them not to.

The elder cleared her throat, bringing everyone's attention back to her. "Here is your question. Evil villains have captured your mother and lover. You can only save one," she explained, her eyes sweeping across the group to ensure they understood. "Select 1 for your mother or 2 for your lover."

[Name] tilted their head, pondering the implications of the question. Wait, what if I don't have a mother or a lover? My mom's dead, and I'm too young to date...*They kept this thought to themselves, knowing that voicing it might gain exasperation or pity from the others. They weren't in the mood for that today.

"Which will you save?" the old lady prompted, watching the man took a moment to mull it over.

Leorio grit his teeth, glaring at the elderly lady. "How the hell is this even a quiz?"

The man crossed his arms confidently. "The answer is 1."

"Oh?" The lady hummed, narrowing her eyes at him. "Why do you say that?"
