[ANNORA]
"Child... are you okay?"
The voice was soft, feminine, and laced with concern. I froze, my head whipping around as I searched for its source. My chest tightened in fear until my gaze landed on a sleek black cat. Its fur glistened like polished obsidian, and its eyes—an otherworldly purple, like shards of crystal—locked onto mine.
"W-what are you?" I stammered, my voice trembling as I stumbled back a step.
The cat tilted its head, unblinking. "It seems the world has been unkind to you, child. Hasn't it?"
Before I could react, the cat's form began to shift. A blinding burst of purple light engulfed the room, forcing me to shield my eyes. When the brilliance faded, I blinked against the lingering brightness and gasped.
Standing before me was a woman, towering and regal, her presence both imposing and comforting. She was twice my size, her eyes still the same mesmerizing crystal-purple as the cat's. Her hair, long and black as midnight, cascaded down her back like flowing silk.
She knelt slowly, bringing herself to my level. Her eyes roamed over me, studying me with an intensity that made my skin prickle.
"You're a special one, aren't you?" she murmured, a faint smile tugging at her lips. "The blood of Ose runs through your veins..."
Her voice was soft, almost reverent as if she had discovered something rare and precious.
"The blood of Ose?" I echoed, confusion heavy in my voice. Her words swirled in my mind, their meaning just out of reach.
The woman smiled gently, a warmth in her expression that seemed almost out of place given the strangeness of the moment. She rose to her full height and extended her hand toward me, her movements fluid and deliberate.
"Child," she said, her voice soft yet filled with purpose. "Would you like to be my student?"
Her offer caught me off guard, and I stared at her, utterly dumbfounded. "Student?" My voice wavered, barely above a whisper, fear tightening my throat. "What... what would you even teach me?"
Her smile deepened, tinged with something I couldn't quite place—pride, perhaps, or anticipation. "Why, magic, of course," she replied, her tone light but her words weighted with significance. "You don't know how to use your powers yet, do you?"
I hesitated, her words igniting a flicker of something deep inside me—curiosity, maybe even hope. Slowly, I reached out and placed my hand in hers. Her grip was firm yet gentle, and with a slight tug, she pulled me to my feet.
"If it will stop the pain... if it will keep me from being hurt again... please," I whispered, my voice trembling, each word heavier than the last. The memory of that night clawed its way to the surface—my mother, my father—both gone in a single, cruel instant.
The weight of it all crushed me, and I couldn't hold back the tears any longer. They spilled down my cheeks, warm and unrelenting, as the ache in my chest threatened to consume me.

I followed the strange woman up the hill, the path winding through thick, untamed greenery. At the crest stood a massive cottage, its presence both welcoming and imposing. The structure was built from dark, weathered wood, its walls adorned with creeping ivy and windows glowing warmly with amber light. A sturdy stone chimney puffed faint trails of smoke into the twilight, promising warmth and comfort within.
When she opened the door, I stepped inside and froze, my breath catching. The interior was nothing like I expected. The main room was vast but radiated a cozy charm. Wooden beams crisscrossed the ceiling, and the polished oak floors reflected the soft glow of a chandelier that floated, unanchored, above the center of the room. Bookshelves lined the walls, filled to bursting with worn tomes, jars of strange substances, and peculiar trinkets. A massive stone fireplace crackled at one end of the room, its mantle adorned with candles and vials that shimmered in the firelight.
