Chapter Twenty - Five

"Her mom said that she was in a bad car accident, and the other driver died. And Amira got banged up pretty bad. She got addicted to painkillers." Carlton explained to Lisa and Alexandria. He asked the two to meet him at the pool ASAP.

"That's awful," Alexandria said sadly.

"According to her mom, she was just never the same after that. It's like... like a part of her died that day."

"Just not a sister," Lisa said.

"I can't believe she's been holding onto that this whole time," Alexandria told him.

"I was the first person she spoke to every morning. She was my person. I thought I was hers, too, but... but I missed it. I... I just..." Carlton said before he started to panic making Lisa grab ahold of his hand.

"We all did."

"Hey, guys." Will greeted as he walked over to the three.

"Um... Man, I just want you to know how sorry I am. Lex, I should have stuck to our plan. And, Carlton, I should have came to you first about Amira. I didn't mean for this to happen." Will apologized.

"Look." Will said as he took a seat in the empty chair,  "This is probably not the best time. But Quentin has been hitting us up about investors, and, look, I know you're going through a lot..." Will continued but Carlton cut him off.

"Stop. You know, for a second, I thought you cared about something that wasn't just you. Man, fuck Blackccess, dude. I'm done." Carlton told him making Lisa and Alexandria look at each other.  Carlton stood making Will do the same.

"You don't mean that. Look, man, of course, I care. You don't think this affects me too?"

"No, because my dad's just gonna fix your fuckups and get you out of jail a second time," Carlton said before walking away with Lisa following after him to give the couple a minute to talk. Alexandria looked at Will disbelief as to what Carlton just said.

"Wait a fucking minute jail? Will, what is he talking about?" Alexandria said as she stood up.

"It's just too much, but I just... look, I messed up. I did something..." Will started but Alexandria stopped she realized that she didn't want to keep another secret.

"I don't care. I don't wanna know. I just can't carry any more shit right now."

"Alexandria."

"When I look at the water, all I see is Amira's lifeless body. Lisa can't even get in the water without seeing her body and is thinking about quitting swim. And for you, what? It's just business as usual?" Alexandria asked him, not being able to keep her emotions at bay.

"No, of course not. I wish I could fix everything I fucked up."

"Well, sometimes, you can't, Will! Okay? You just have to own it. That's all ima say." Alexandria told him before walking away.
