Chapter Eighteen

"Thanks for your help, Alexandria," Gemma said just as the bell rang, Alexandria has been tutoring back to back, and finally, that was her last session.

"You let me know how that test goes, Okay Gemma?" Alexandria said with a smile as she watched her pack up.

"Will do." She said before leaving just as Carlton came in while she texted Demetrius back.

"Hey," Carlton said with a smile as he walked over to her.

"Hey, Carlton you're here early." She said as she put her phone down giving him her full attention.

Placing his bookbag down he sat on the desk he started, "Yeah, well, I knew that you'd be tutoring, and I wanted to catch you before class."

"For you." He said as he placed the box in front of her causing her to look at him surprised.

Opening the box she saw the beautiful bracelet, "A winged track charm? This is beautiful. But what's the occasion?"

"Well, I'm still in the Founder's Award race,"  Carlton admitted.

"Because what you said tapped into what people want to hear. Carlton you are more relatable than you think and people see that. I'm proud of you," Alexandria told them causing him to smile at her.

"Well, you and Lisa are always the ones encouraging me to speak my truth. And no matter who's against me, you always have my back." Carlton started as he put the bracelet on her wrist.

"I'll always be there for you Carlton. You know that." Alexandria said with a smile as she looked at the gold bracelet.

"I just wanted to show you how much I appreciate you, Lex. You mean the world to me, and I don't know what I'd do without you." Carlton said, but Alexandria couldn't help but feel like this was a repeat of last year.

"Thank you," Alexandria said just as Carlton kissed her on the cheek.

"All right, I'll catch you later." He said as he pulled back before grabbing his bookbag and standing up.

"Thanks," Alexandria said nervously as he walked out of the classroom, Alexandria looked down at the bracelet on her wrist before quickly grabbing her bag and heading out of the room. Just as she was heading up the stairs Demetrius called after her.

"Hey, Lex. Hold up. So how was class?" Demetrius asked rushing up the stairs before grabbing ahold of her hand with a smile as they continued up the stairs not knowing that Will was watching the two.
