The Other Doppelganger

Chapter Four

Katalina's POV:

"What? I-I don't understand..." Elena said.

"Tell you what. I'll continue my story if Kat here tells us how she became a vampire." Katherine said to us. I sighed.

"Fine. A year ago my family and I were playing baseball.. my brother Edward brought along his blood singer of a girlfriend. Everything was great we here having fun until a couple of nomads passed though and heard us. A tracker James got a whiff of her scent and started tracking her down." I said. 

"My family and I separated trying to lead him away from her as Alice, Jasper and myself took her to Arizona. But he figured it out and headed to us." I said.

"What happened next?" Elena asked.

"James.. he tricked her into coming to him. He told her he had her mother." I said to her.

"But he didn't... did he." She said.

"No... James wondered how I'd make for a newborn then turned me." I said looking at her.  

"So you didn't get a choice?" Elena asked me.

"No, I died because of my brother's girlfriend. And I hate her. I hate her even more than what I did before I died." I said. 

"I'll come back for the rest of that story Kitty-Kat." I said as I left the tomb and headed home. When I got home I was so angry. Just having to think or talking about that blood singer makes me so pissed off. I make myself a glass of blood and sit down on the couch. 

"How did it go?" I hear Esme asked me.

"Katherine said thank you." I tell her.

"Well, tell her she's welcome." Esme said back to me. 

"I will." I said. 

"What's troubling you dear?" Esme asked me.

"When Damon and his brother came to get us.. or well Elena. He was more worried about her than me. I think he's in love with her.. and just pretending with me because I look like her. But with blonde hair." I said. 

"Oh, honey." Esme said. 

"I have one mate who does wants my identical twin and another who may or may not be dead... when did my life become so complicated?" I asked. 

"I wish I had the answer Katalina." Esme said as she comforted me. As she did there was a knock at the door. Esme smiled at me and got up and left to answer it. I ignored their conversation and just sat there in sadness. 

"Katalina, there's someone here to see you." Esme tells me. I roll my eyes and sigh. With my glass in hand I stood up and turned around. My eyes widened as I saw Elijah standing in front of me. I was shocked.. Alice was right. He wasn't dead. How was he alive? 

Elijah's POV:

I looked at my beautiful mate, I could see the shocked look in her eyes as she saw that I was alive. Never did I think my mate would be a doppelganger but I must say she is more beautiful than the others I have come across. 

"I'll leave you two alone." Esme said as she then left the room. 

"How?" Katalina asked me.

"A simple stake cannot kill me." I tell her as I walked over to her. I watch as she takes a sip of the blood in her glass. 

"I thought your family lives off animals?" I said.

"They do, I don't." She said. 

"May I ask why?" I asked.

"My gifts." She said. 

"I have a total of four but there's two that I use then I feed. My physical attraction and hypnotic vision." She said. 

"How do use these gifts?" I asked wanting to get to know my mate more.

"When I feel the need to feed I use my physical attraction. My physical features are supported by my gift. Its to be physically appealing to both human and vampires. When I use this gift they can't resist it. That's when my hypnotic vision comes into play." Katalina says. 

"And what does that gift do?" I asked her.

"I look into the person's eyes temporary stunning them. I then feed from them, once I'm done I let them go from my gift. It leaves them confused with memory loss. They have no way of getting that memory back. It works on both human and vampires." She said.

"Those are powerful gifts. I've never heard of a Cold One having more than one." I tell her.

"I have two more. Physical electrokinesis and humanity. My physical electrokinesis I can cover my body in electrical current. It causes whoever I touch extreme pain and they fall to there knees. Depending how much power I put into it. And then last there's my humanity. With my humanity it allows my body to function like a normal human's body would. Its why my eyes aren't ruby red." She says. I looked at her in awe. She was beyond wonderful. 

Katalina's POV:

Elijah and I talked for a bit more, I told him how I turned. He wanted to kill James but I told him he was already dead. I got to know him. He told me about his siblings, how he became a vampire. I was shocked to hear that he was over a thousand years old. 

"There's something else you should know." I said.

"What is it, Elskan?" Elijah said.

"I have another mate.. but he's in love with my twin." I said. Elijah could see the hurt and sadness in my eyes. 

"Who is this other mate?" He asked.

"Damon Salvatore.. the one who put that stake through you." I said to him. Elijah gently placed his hand on my cheek.

"Then it is his loss Katalina." Elijah said. I couldn't help but smile. It wasn't too long until Elijah had some business to attend too but he said I would see him again. Seeing my mate who wants me and only me made me feel better. 

~Later that night~

I didn't get to see Elijah again but he did drop something off for me. It was a beautiful silver bracelet with small diamonds on it. He even wrote a little note too. He apologized for not coming back but promised to see me soon. I smiled as Alice helped me put it on. As Alice was adoring the bracelet Carlisle told me that I had a visitor. I looked over at him and saw him with Damon.

"Go away." I said. 

"Not until you talk to me." He said.

"She doesn't want to see you." Rosalie said. 

"Why don't you go be with Elena. I'm sure she could use the company. Seeing as you prefer hers over mine." I said to him. 

"I'm just trying to keep her safe." Damon said.

"No, your in love with her. I will never be good enough for you because I'm not her." I said. 

"That's not true Katalina!" Damon says to me trying to convince me.

"Yes it is Damon. You locked Katherine in the tomb because of Elena. You only went to that house to save Elena not me. I saw the way you looked at her.. that was the look of love." I said as I could feel tears starting to appear.

"I think its time you left." Jasper said. He didn't say anything.. Damon just left like that. Didn't even try to fight for me.... he just disappeared. I could feel Jasper trying to make me happy. 

"Thank you Jasper... I think I'm going to call it a night." I said as I walked to my room closing the door behind me. My back against the door I just let it out. I cried... I never cry. Why did he have to be my mate?
