The Other Doppelganger

Chapter Ten

Katalina's POV:

Creating hybrids was a fail, now were in Chicago to see a powerful witch to see where things went wrong. Nik sent me with Elijah while he talks to this witch of his. As Elijah and I walk down the sidewalk together my phone starts to ring... it was Rosalie. She's been calling every other day now. I declined the call and put my phone back in my pocket.

"Its okay to want to be with your family." Elijah tells me.

"They're not my family anymore... Jenna and Jeremy are." I said. 

"How are things between Miss. Sommers and Mr. Gilbert?" Elijah asked me.

"Good, Jenna's adjusting well from what she tells me. Jenna's fighting for custody of me... she wants to legally adopt me." I said to him.

"And how do you feel about that?" Elijah asked me as we walked together.

"I want to be in a loving and caring home.. one where I matter.. one where my opinions matter." I say as I sigh.

"I think I'll be happier with Jenna and Jeremy then I will be with The Cullen's... but if I'm being honest. Part of me misses them.. but they betrayed me." I said. Before Elijah could say anything his phone rang. It was Nik, he wanted us to meet him back at the warehouse. 

When we got to the warehouse we say Nik and Stefan standing in front of an open coffin. 

"I don't recognize her." We hear Stefan say.

"Don't tell her that. Rebekah's temper's worse than mine." Nik said.

"Your waking Rebekah?" Elijah asked. Nik and Stefan then turn to look at us.

"She has what I need." Was all Nik said. He then turned his attention back to his sister. We watch as he takes the dagger from her chest.

"Time to wake up, little sister." Nik said. We all waited for a few moments and Rebekah wouldn't wake up.

"Any day now, Rebekah." Nik said looking at her.

"She's being dramatic." He added. 

"Look, why don't you just tell me what the hell is going on?" Stefan said. 

"I mean, you obviously want me here for a reason, right?" Stefan said looks at Nik.

"You have many useful talents." Nik said.

"Do I?" Stefan asked.

"In fact, I learned some of my favorite tricks from you." Nik said as he looks at Stefan.

"Hmm." Was all Stefan had to say. Nik and Stefan start to walk away, Elijah and I follow them.

"Why should I believe any of this?" Stefan asked.

"When she wakes up, tell her to meet us at Gloria's bar. Then volunteer your carotid artery and let her feed until you die." Nik said compelling the guard. 

"I'll stay here until she wakes up." I said. Nik then looked at me and smiled. He walks up to me and kisses the top of my forehead. 

"Once this is all over, love. We'll spend time together just you and I." He said. I gave him a smile and Elijah, Stefan and Nik walked away. I walked back over to the coffins and sat on one of them, waiting for Rebekah to wake up. 

When she woke up, the guard did exactly as he was compelled to do. Rebekah dropped him to the floor then looked at me.

"Who the hell are you?" She asked me.

"Katalina Gilbert, the blonde doppelganger." I said to her. 

"Another doppelganger? Why aren't you dead?" She asked me.
