Chapter 29

The following morning, Zac did not waste any time, he contacted his trusted hacker to check the footage of the hospital and run a background check on Rolex. Turns out he is just a guy who's a computer scientist, no criminal record and just straight up clean. He was not going to allow himself to be insecure especially after how Karen has made him feel in the past.

Zac: Did you sleep with him?

Fatima: Who?

Zac: The guy from the hospital?

Fatima: I told you that nothing happened.

Zac: I'm just making sure.

Fatima: I would never do that. Yes, I liked the attention he was giving me but he's not you, you're my person and my everything. I should've told you about him, I'm sorry.

Zac: Thank you. I don't want us to go down a road that Karen and I went through, it was tough.

Fatima: I get that.

Zac: If he comes near you again, I'll kill him.

Fatima: You're a funny man. I already told him to keep his distance.

Zac: Good, now come give me some sugar.

The next few days, Fatima was working night shift, these tends to be busier hours than day shift. Rolex stopped by, she told him what it and he promised to keep his distance. He wasn't going to continue to chase her.

3 months later, the end of the school year. For the first time, Naila will be spending time in D.C with the Wilson's since Zac and Fatima both have full time jobs.

Mrs Wilson: She's about to have the best 2 weeks of her life.

Fatima: Don't go overboard, she still needs to follow the rules.

Mrs Wilson: I've raised kids before, you know? She'll be fine.

Fatima: I know.

Mrs Wilson: So, you and Marilyn have been distant since her pregnancy.

Fatima never told her parents about the miscarriage and Marilyn giving birth to a baby boy was a trigger.

Fatima: We're good.

Mrs Taylor: You should wait a little, she'll be here soon and you can meet little Rio.

Fatima: Okay, let me go check on Zac and Duke.

Mrs Taylor: Your mens.

Outside, Duke and Zac were going back and forth about soccer.

Fatima: Can I steal my husband for a minute?

Duke: Nah, we're busy.

Fatima: Zachary Luther Taylor.

Zac: Full names? I'm in trouble.

Duke: I'll make sure your parents get your body. I'll be inside. Tima, don't kill the man.

Fatima: Walk Duke.

Zac: You good? (Fatima shook her head). What's wrong?

Fatima: I can't be here when Marilyn gets here. (Gets emotional). I'm so happy for her but it's tough on me, we were pregnant around the same time.

Zac: Tima, it's okay. Tell her what happened, she'll understand. It's wasn't time for our baby boy to be with us.

Fatima: Still, can we go sleep at a hotel?
