We don't live long enough
To be able to see the next generation's outcome
Our great, great, great granddaughters and sons
Each building their own kingdoms of freedom
With no bloodshed brought by swords or guns
We don't live long enough
To be able to fully experience the fruits of our labor
The long term results of our toil and perseverance
The essence of most inspirations why we endeavor
What we truly earned, we simply get a slight glance
We don't live long enough
To please everyone who expects something out of me
To love everyone the same degree we love another
To expect a happy ever after for every book's finale
From this, we can simply imply we can't live forever
However...
Will this be the limit of my existence?
Can I consider myself truly living?
If I dwell in the absence and not in the presence,
How am I different from the eternally sleeping?
Therefore...
I will choose to live long enough... long enough
To leave my bloodline my legacy and my passion
To see my sons and daughters grow morally upright
And in turn, they can hopefully build the next generation
With this, I believe that our future would ever be bright.
I choose to live long enough
To be content with my harvest for it is enough for me
Enough to reward the spirit and the flesh who did great
To perspire and be inspired more, and as you will see
That a simple glimpse of glee can bring love and not hate.
I choose to live long enough
To be who I am, accept other's imperfections and mine
To give all the love I can and I should, no matter how tough
Understand that like joy, sorrow is given by the Divine
So we can know how to truly smile while we live long enough.
