Certain Uncertainty

Tasha had fallen and fallen hard, the two days following the party she and Cal had been texting each other non-stop. With every text she had been walking on air. Grinning and mooning like a silly little girl, still, she couldn't help herself. It had been a long time since she'd last felt like things were starting to go right for her. As she lay on her bed the last remnants of golden sunshine cutting its way across the room, her mobile bleeped.

Hey gorgeous. I need to see you. Want to come round and play? X

The smile on her face widened, she texted him back quickly. Her fingers dancing over the keypad on the screen. Seconds later, beep beep.

My dad has gone away for a few days. Come round here x

Tasha was out of the door before she'd finished reading the text.

Selena rolled her eyes and turned the music up another few notches. She did not want to listen to her idiot brother and another one of his conquests all night. She groaned, she hadn't been feeling well for days now. Over the past week she'd been getting a strange feeling in her gut. Her head would become fuzzy and her eyesight would blur. She was scared, worried, she needed to seek advice, someone impartial, someone that had to tell her the truth no matter what. So extending her mind she reached out her conscious. Moments later a soft knock on her door announced Cassandra's acceptance of her invitation.

"You wanted to see me Selena?"

"Come in," Selena smiled. Cassandra hesitated at the door, unsure of this new friendliness being extended her way. Sitting down on the proffered chair, she waited.

"I need your advice," Selena began. "I've been feeling...well, strange."

"Strange? How so?" Cassandra's eyes widened a little. Vampires seldom became unwell.

"I feel weak, dizzy and my eye sight keeps blurring. It's only for a few seconds but..." She didn't finish the sentence, it didn't need finishing.

Cassandra thought for a moment, "Could you be pregnant?"

"No!" Selena snapped back.

"Then I'm not sure what I can do to help," Cassandra said.

"Why?" Selena replied sharply. "What is it?"

"I don't know. I'll need some time, do a little research."

She visibly slumped. "Very well, but Cassandra, this stays between us." Selena warned.

Cassandra nodded gravely and left. But as she shut the door behind her a smile broke on her face. This was just perfect.

Selena huffed out a sigh. She'd hoped Cassandra would have known straight away what was wrong, put her mind at ease but she hadn't.

The noises from her brother's room intensified and she groaned again. What was it with that boy? How did he get so much action?

"Oh Cal!" a voice rang out in unbridled pleasure.

Selena's head snapped round towards the adjoining wall between their rooms. No, it couldn't be! Tasha Gionetti, that fucking human tart! What the hell was Cal playing at?
