Sunday: a day of rest, but not, as the saying goes, for the wicked. So calling on his friend and co-conspirator Marcus, he and Cal took to the hillside once more.

"So, did you get some last night?" Marcus asked as they walked looking for a good place to hunt.

The day was still in its infancy and the weak rays of the sun did not bother them yet. "Don't be such a perv!" Cal scolded his friend, only half meaning it.

"That'll be a no then," Marcus said throwing a stone he'd picked up over the edge of the outcrop they'd come to.

"Yes, that will be a no, but only coz her fucking friend has shit timing." Cal told him, still annoyed at himself for not just telling them to piss off when they'd walked in.

Marcus nodded thoughtfully for a moment before saying, "Well why don't we pick up a newbie to help slake your lust or have you finally broken room 4s occupant?" Cal felt himself flush slightly. Elliana, had so far spurned all his advances, she could not remember her true name, her true personality but strangely, she still knew to keep him at bay. Makers are not allowed to compel their fledglings to have sex with them, it is against the code and if the elders found out he'd be done for. In fact, if the elders found out he'd made another fledgling he'd be done for. So he would have to make do with humans. Marcus turned suddenly, Cal heard it too, someone was coming.

They could distinctly make out two voices, one male, one female, coming along the track. Quick as a flash Marcus bit into his arm, smeared blood onto his face and neck and lay prone half in the grass. Cal, understanding his ruse hid himself from view. As the couple, on bikes, rounded the corner Marcus let out a groan of pain.

"Oh my God!" The female said jumping off her bike and racing to Marcus' side, her male partner hot on her heels.

"What happened, mate?" He asked.

Marcus tried to sit up, wincing convincingly. "My dog....got spooked and bit me," he said making his voice quiver slightly. Cal had to give it to him, he was a damn good actor. From Cal's vantage point he could see the track in front and behind them, they stood empty and Cal knew it needed to be soon. These walks were popular with dog walkers, hikers and cyclists at all times of the day. They didn't want to be disturbed whilst feeding. Cal dropped to the floor and silently approached the couple from behind.

"Are you badly hurt?" The girl asked, wide eyed in shock. She wasn't a pretty girl but nor was she ugly; plain would be the best way to describe her. Plain and probably boring.

Marcus shook his head. "I just need to find my dog before it attacks someone else." The man and woman nodded and Cal took his opportunity.

"Woof!" Cal barked making them both jump, the woman squealed and they both spun round.
"Hey, what the..." The man began but he never finished his sentence as Cal grabbed him roughly by the throat as squeezed until he crushed his windpipe. It was then the girl screamed, Cal and Marcus groaned in pleasure, as she began to cry.

"Run," Cal whispered to her, he needed some exercise. Without hesitation or thought for her boyfriend she ran.

"1 ... 2 ... 3 ... 4 ... 5 ready or not here we come!" Marcus laughed cruelly and they set off in pursuit of their prey.

Deliberately they toyed with her as she ran crying and petrified, they almost caught her, then let her escape several times, herding her back the way they came. Marcus ran on ahead. Cal frowned, what was Marcus up to? he continued the chase of the girl, sobbing she broke through the tree line back out onto the path she'd started on. Her boyfriend was propped gruesomely against a tree, his blood spilling silently onto the green grass below him where his head sat looking back at his body; she collapsed onto all fours gagging and retching. She knew her life was about to end, her brown eyes flitted between Cal and Marcus.
