I sat in the seat opposite of him and made myself comfortable. The office air smelled of him- a rich, musky scent, it was torturously divine. Can's gaze met mine, deepening with an intensity that sent a shiver through me. I held my breath. We haven't exchanged words but the space between us buzzed with electricity.
"Hello Ms. Aydin." Can extends his hand.
I shake his hand. "Mr. Divit."
When Can suggested that I come back to work for him, I told him that I will only return if there was an open role. He wanted to offer me a director role, but I was determined to not accept any special treatment. So here I am interviewing with my boyfriend for the assistant director position. The problem is that the sexual tension between us is making this interview seem like role-play.
I tried not to squirm in my seat, but it was impossible. I shifted.
He took a pen from his desk and absentmindedly pressed its tip to his lips—those irresistibly distracting lips. I swallowed hard, this man is delectable. His gaze swept over me like he was savoring every inch.
"Mr. Can, will you be asking me any questions?" I said as I cleared my throat.
He sat back and continued to stare at me. "No."
"No?"
"Actually, I have a question. "You know that in this role, there will be a lot of pressure."
I say without hesitation "I thrive under pressure and I'm not afraid of long hours."
Can raises an eyebrow, amused. "Is that a promise? Because I'm a firm believer in rewarding dedication."
A slow smile spreads across my face and I whisper "I like positive reinforcement."
"I already know how you work. So back to work." He gestured for me to stand up and leave his office.
I nod and start walking out but before I reach the door, he calls me and I turn around. "Ms. Sanem I do expect to see you tonight. We need to continue this interview in a private setting."
I turn red not knowing what to say so I do the next best thing. I quickly leave his office.

"Im so happy to have you back!" Ayhan exclaims, darting across the room to wrap me in an embrace as I settle into my old desk. "Your aura is glowing with vibrant colors—red, orange, and yellow! Something wonderful is happening! What is it?" She gestures animatedly, her hands creating a swirling dance in front of me.
"Honestly, I'm just really happy to be back." I reply quickly, hoping she won't sense my pregnancy.
"Sanem! Whether I like it or now, you're here and I expect you to work instead of chatting." Deren interjects, her tone leaving no room for argument. I nod obediently and turn on my laptop to start on an action series about a retired CIA agent who is called for a secret mission.
Two hours of focused typing pass before I get a text from Leila on my phone.
Leila: EMERGENCY! Check the news on People Magazine
Curiosity piqued, I click the link, and my heart drops. The first image is of Can and me at the awards with a headline that reads **"Can's New Love Interest."**
"Oh no! I meant to call my mother and explain my relationship... SHIT!" I whisper yell. Panic sweeps over me. Now my phone vibrates insistently-It's my mother calling. I hesitate to answer and I whisper a quick prayer for divine intervention.
Please, God, help me!
Mom flashes on my screen a second time, I finally pick up. "Hi, Mom," I say, forcing a smile and greeting her with as much warmth as I can muster.
