It had been three days since Alec had seen Magnus. He figured Magnus wanted a little space. It was good for their relationship. If they spent time together, arguing more would lead to shit anyway. Problem was, he was left to heal all alone.
Well, not really all alone. He had Jace, Clary, Simon, his sister. It just wasn't the same support and care as Magnus would give him. Magnus had the loving care. Everyone else had the uplifting, friendship care. They were both good, though.
One night, he was having a 'movie' night with everyone. Alec was on one side of the couch, Jace and Clary on the other, and Simon and Isabelle were on blankets and pillows on the floor.
Alec suddenly heard his phone go off. He sighed quietly and slipped it out of his pocket, checking. Magnus texted him.
Alec let out a little scream, looking at everyone. Jace seemed alert as he sat up straight, "what?!"
"Magnus texted me!"
Jace glared and threw a pillow at him, in which Alec swatted it away. "What was that for, Jace?!"
"You had me worried for a second!"
"This /is/ something to be worried about!"
Clary leaned over, "just check your phone. How bad can it be?"
Alec shrugged a little, "he could want to break up with me."
Jace rolled his eyes and grabbed the phone. "He probably wants to apologize." The blonde muttered and read the message. He froze, expression softening. He looked hurt.
Alec was suddenly worried. "What did he say?" He asked quietly.
Jace handed him back his phone, and Alec read it.
'We can't be together anymore. I'm sorry, and it'll be hard to understand. Goodbye, Alexander.'
Alec looked at his phone in shock. "He.. What? I don't get it."
"He dumped ya," Simon said, completely straightforward, as he popped a piece of popcorn in to his mouth. Isabelle scoffed and slapped his arm, "Simon." She snapped.
Simon made a noise, almost like a whine, "what was that for?"
"My brother just got broken up with." Isabelle muttered and stood up, walking over to the couch to sit next to a suddenly hurt and pale Alec. "Magnus broke up with me. Izzy, he actually dumped me." Alec murmured and looked over at her, tossing his phone on the other side of the couch.
"There has to be a reason, Alec. He said it himself. It'll be hard to understand."
"Why should that change anything? He still broke up with me."
"Because we don't know why."
Alec stood up, grabbing his crutches. "Too much has been happening the past few days," Alec grumbled and took off toward the stairs, using the crutches.
Everyone stood immediately, seeing what would go wrong.
"Alec, you'll have trouble going up the stairs with those!" Jace yelled to him. It was too late, though.
Alec had missed a step with the crutch, and he completely just fell down the stairs.
Alec laid in a hospital bed, ranting to his sister about life. Isabelle laughed slightly and grabbed his hand, causing Alec to shut up. "You were being an idiot." Izzy nodded. Alec shrugged, "I was thinking too much. How would I remember to not go up the stairs when my boyfriend just stomped on my heart?"
Isabelle sighed and shrugged a little, "at least you didn't break anything. That wouldn't be good. Besides, your whole body is already basically broken."
"I'm fine, Isabelle."
"That's not what those three casts say."
"My casts can't talk," Alec murmured.
"Whatever," Isabelle rolled her eyes, laughing a little. The door was heard opening, and Jace, Clary, and Simon walked in. "Here comes the party," Simon said with a grin. Jace gave him a small glare, "not now, Simon." Simon's excited demeanor faded, and he shrugged a little, whispering a 'whatever.'
Jace walked over to the hospital bed, taking a seat in the chair that Isabelle was in. "Hey, jerk." Alec muttered to Jace, rolling his eyes. Jace grinned, "I'm not the dumb one that fell down the stairs."
"You stood and watched. And then you laughed and took a picture."
"I tried to warn you about the step. Your loss for not listening."
"It was too late anyway," Alec shrugged a little, smirking slightly. "We should have a new contest. Who can guess how many times Alec will end up in the hospital?" Clary smiled and shook her head. Alec gave her a sarcastic smile before rolling his eyes, resting his head back against the pillow. "Whatever." Alec laughed slightly.
The doctor suddenly entered.
She seemed surprised to see everyone, but she gave them all a generous glance. "Oh, I'm sorry to interrupt. Sadly, we have to cancel this party."
Simon grinned, "see, even she agrees it's one."
Alec gave him a glare. Simon gave one back.
They all listened though, and left the room. The nurse closed the door. "You're lucky you didn't break anything else," she laughed slightly. Alec nodded, "so what happened, then?" He questioned. "Just a twisted ankle. We'll take care of that, you'll be out tomorrow morning."
Alec nodded and relaxed in the bed.
It was later on that night. About midnight. Alec was half asleep, laying on his side, the television's low volume being the only sound audible in the dim hospital room. Alec suddenly thought he saw something move by the door. He squinted and tried to look in the dark hallway from where he was.
He saw a flash, almost like a person, who was instantly gone. It looked like non other than Sebastian.
It couldn't be. Alec figured he was being his paranoid self again. He rested his head back against the pillow and closed his eyes, shockingly falling asleep fast. Usually he would stay up late and think. Especially tonight, that should have happened, due to how much he thought and how it would have happened. Alec was just too exhausted to think. He needed a long break from life and reality. One he couldn't get.
