"Warlock?" Alec questioned, confused. "Like.. With powers and all?"
Magnus nodded a little, looking almost ashamed in that moment. "Yes."
Alec nodded a little, crossing his arms. "Okay." He looked over at everyone, sighing. "Wait, what about our parents?" Alec gave Isabelle a look, looking back at Magnus after.
"Maryse and Robert? They're Shadowhunters, too."
Isabelle walked over, sitting down next to Alec. "Our parents are ones too?"
Magnus nodded a little, "yes. They are."
She looked at Magnus in awe.
Understanding would not be easy, but they had to know.
"Staying here isn't safe anymore. There is one place for you guys." Jace explained, nodding at them.
The Institute. They all walked in, looking around. Alec and Isabelle looked shocked as they took in their surroundings. "What the.." Alec murmured, trailing off. "It's beautiful. What is this place?" Isabelle asked, looking over at Magnus. "The Institute. It's where you'll be staying." Magnus nodded a bit. "Like, forever?" Alec asked. Magnus just grabbed his hand, walking with him.
There was so much in the hallways to look at. Alec and Isabelle would get distracted, and Magnus would have to call them to follow.
Jace walked in the front with Clary,
Simon behind Clary, Magnus next to Jace, and the Lightwoods following in the back, being the slowest.
Alec had ditched his crutches a few days ago, figuring he didn't need them.
Of course he did, but he didn't want to use them.
Isabelle was brought down to the heart of the Institute, Clary and Jace bringing her to see Hodge.
Magnus continued to give Alec a little tour, but mostly just because he wanted to spend time with his boyfriend.
They walked hand in hand down the hallway.
"So, Alec," Magnus looked over at him.
Alec nodded, "mhm?" He glanced to him.
"I know it must be a lot to take in, I'm sorry." Magnus said quietly.
Alec shook his head, "it's okay. It's better that I know the truth. Will you be staying here too?"
Magnus shook his head, causing Alec to frown. "But, why..?"
Magnus explained, "the Institute is for Shadowhunters. Not people like me."
"But can't you? It's not like, illegal for anything-"
"Alexander."
Alec tensed slightly.
"I can't." Magnus said firmly. Alec sighed and looked down. "Alright. Alright, okay."
Later on that day, after Magnus left, Alec and Isabelle was sent down to train, with Clary, Jace, and Simon.
"Train? Why?" Alec asked, as he walked in to the room.
"Demon fighting takes immense skill. You never know when someone will-" Jace cut himself off, grabbing Alec and flipping him, slamming him against the ground.
Alec yelped, wincing, curling up on the ground for a moment. "What the /fuck/ was that for?!"
Jace smirked and grabbed his arm, pulling him up. "Like I said, you never know when someone will strike."
Alec rubbed his back, scoffing, "God damn you."
Isabelle went over to Alec to make sure he was okay, glaring at Jace after. Jace held his hands up, laughing slightly.
Clary grabbed a blade, tossing one to Alec, and one to Isabelle.
Jace had his own. "Alec, you're against me. Isabelle, Clary."
Alec walked over to Jace, Isabelle going over to Clary.
"Do I actually have to hurt you? Well, maybe I will, after what you just did to me-"
"Alec, shut up. No, we don't actually hurt each other." Jace paused. "Only a little."
Alec rolled his eyes.
"Okay, are you ready, Isabelle-"
Clary gasped and ducked when Isabelle came at her head with the blade. She slowly stood again, looking at Izzy in shock. Isabelle smirked, seeming pleased when herself.
"Okay then. Where'd you learn that?"
"Just an instinct." Isabelle shrugged.
Alec, though, was having a little trouble. He kept missing, or he kept losing against Jace.
"What am I doing wrong?" Alec asked, sighing.
"You're hesitant. Nervous." Jace explained.
"This isn't my thing." Alec nodded.
"It wasn't anyone's at first. It will be, though."
Jace nodded.
Magnus had texted Alec later that day.
'I want to take my Alec out on a date tonight.'
Alec read the message with a smile, laying in a bed, which was apparently now his.
'A date? I'll have to ask your Alec.'
Alec laughed slightly at Magnus's reply.
'Tell me what he says.'
Alec took about two minutes before replying.
'Your Alec says yes.'
'Great. How's 9?'
'I'll be ready.'
'See you soon, babe.'
'Love you.'
Alec climbed out of bed. He walked to Jace's room, knocking, Jace answering in an instant.
"Yes, Alec?"
"Magnus is taking me out tonight. I need clothes."
Jace grabbed Alec's hand and pulled him inside, closing the door behind them.
"Alright. Fashion advice from Jace." Jace said proudly, walking to his closet.
"I have some old things." Jace tossed Alec a black sweater and black jeans. Alec caught them,
looking at the clothes.
"Alright.. Your whole closet is black."
"It's a Shadowhunters thing." Jace nodded a little.
"Okay then."
Alec walked out of the room and back to his own, kicking the door shut behind him.
He changed in to the sweater and jeans, leaving his old clothes folded on the bed.
Nine o'clock came around. Alec heard a knock on the bedroom door. He stood and walked over to the door, opening it.
"Hey," Alec smiled and leaned down, pressing his lips against Magnus's.
Magnus returned the kiss. "Good evening, babe. You look great."
"So do you." Alec nodded and left the bedroom, closing the door behind him.
Clary was seen walking in to Jace's room. She quickly waved to Magnus and Alec when she saw them, the two boys returning the wave.
Alec looked down at Magnus. They were alone again. "Ready to go?" Magnus asked, grabbing Alec's hand, lacing their fingers together.
"Ready." Alec smiled, kissing Magnus's cheek.
Magnus had decided to take Alec out to dinner.
The two sat in quite a nice, 'fancy' restaurant, sitting in a booth in the back.
"I figured we needed a night to ourselves." Magnus nodded a little, reaching over the table, holding Alec's hand.
"Yeah, we really do. A lot has happened." Alec laughed quietly, shrugging.
"How's your foot? Why aren't you using your crutches?"
"I'm getting better, Magnus.
Besides, those things are so difficult to lug around. I might as well learn how to not use them, you know?"
Magnus shook his head.
"No, I don't know. I rarely understand you, Alexander." He smiled.
"I get that a lot." Alec laughed slightly.
"How are you handling this whole demon fighting thing? Jace and Clary helping you and Isabelle, I'm guessing?" Magnus asked after a moment of silence between them.
Alec nodded, "yeah. We did some training. Sorta. Isabelle is a natural. She's amazing. I can barely fight."
"Hey," Magnus squeezed Alec's hand. "You'll do just fine. I know you will."
Alec blushed a little, laughing slightly. "Whatever." He murmured.
Soon, their dinner came. The rest of the night went well. Alec thought Sebastian would interrupt, but it was all okay.
Magnus paid the check, Alec leaning over the table and pecking his lips before they stood to leave.
Magnus wrapped his arm around Alec's waist as they walked to the door, and out.
"I love you," Alec said, looking down at Magnus.
"I love you too, Alexander."
Magnus pressed his lips to Alec's forehead.
