(huge thanks to pedanticPalendrome and Aracne_web on ao3 for betaing and editing)You're running.
You don't know where you are, but you know the thing behind you, can feel its tendrils tickling the back of your neck. So, you're running.
It's dark, making it difficult to see the walls in front of you until you're about to run into them. The twists and turns of the landscape are easy enough to get around, and you think you might finally lose the thing chasing you.
Then you start falling.
Your heart pounds in your ears, wind ripping past you. You lose all semblance of direction, your limbs flailing in the air, and you start to see a soft light. Before you can register what it means, your body falls onto something soft with a thump and you pass out.
When you wake up, it's with a splitting headache and buckets of confusion. You don't open your eyes at first, afraid of what you'll see. Judging by the sound of birds chirping somewhat near you though, you doubt that it's anything dangerous.
The ceiling is a cream colored concrete. It sort of reminds you of the walls of your old apartment. Though, it's been so long since you've seen them, you really can't tell. It seems like a normal room, but the soft breeze ruffling your hair and the bluebirds singing and flying about say otherwise.
Sitting up is a chore. Your head aches in a way you haven't felt since you noclipped for the first time. Your shades are long gone, broken and tossed somewhere a while before you arrived here. The sunless sky shines down on you anyway, making it difficult for you to gain your bearings.
You eventually manage to see normally, and the scene is stupidly cheerful. So much so that it makes you laugh for a good minute before a small bird lands on your shoulder and you shut up out of pure bewilderment. You're sitting on flowery, unreasonably fluffy grass. It sways softly with the breeze, and the patch that you were laying in stands tall as if it hadn't been disturbed in the first place. It smells strongly of pollen and perfume. There's an open wall in front of you detailing a cloudy, blue sky. The rest of the walls are the same cream color as the ceiling.
The room is quite small, smaller than the rooms on Jade's first level, but it's still livable; the open wall makes it seem bigger than it actually is.
A few butterflies circle around you, fluttering like you're some princess in a Disney movie.
"What," you finally say, and the sound of your voice seems a lot louder than it should be. One of the birds looks at you with beady eyes and flies out of the room and to the side a little bit. It comes back in no time with an unopened bottle of water hanging from its claws.
It flies to you, urging you to take it. You eye the bottle suspiciously. It blinks at you before dropping it in your lap rather harshly, then perching on your knee, watching you. You scowl at it and crack open the seal of the water.
As soon as you start to drink it, your headache fades. It's strange. The water tastes slightly of almonds.
