Kinaumagahan, boses ni Belize ang gumising sa akin. Urging me to get up kasi may lakad pa kami and bago raw ako i-snatch nang kuya niya. In my still sleepy state I can't help but smile I've written and published romantic stories and I never imagined mine would be better.
"Ate, later ka na lang managinip ulit baka magising si kuya mapurnada pa surprise mo" ani Belize na nakatawa. "I'll wait for you outside"
I nodded, grinning at the thought, how would Red react? He'll be surprised for sure.
But before leaving I sneaked up to his room, left a morning note and gave him a morning kiss. Looking at him sleeping peacefully, my heart flutters. He's beautiful even with his eyes closed.
I walked out of his room smiling ear to ear.
"Is he awake?", tanong ni Belize.
"Not yet, let's go", sabay hila sa kanya papunta sa kotse.
Habang nasa kotse kami I'm still giddy and smiling out of the blue didn't go unnoticed.
"Lahat ba nang taong in-love parang baliw?" Biglang tanong ni Belize.
"You'll see. Mararamdaman mo rin lahat nang nararamdaman ko ngayon. Though not everything is like the movies or novels, it still feels good to be in love"
"I hope so ate. I'm just happy for you and Kuya"
I smiled, thankful for everything. "I'm happy that I have him. He's my happiness, my life,my everything. Life would be hard without him".
"Hey ate, don't be like that. Masyado kang nega. Mahal ka ni Kuya, that I can vouch".
I took it to heart, mahal ako ni Red. Everything will be alright.
"Ate, naiwan mo raw ba phone mo sa bahay?"
"Yup, why?"
"Kausapin ka raw nang baby mo, wala pang 2 hours na di magkasama miss na agad?" kantiyaw ni Belize.
"Morning Red"
"Baby, bakit di mo sinabing aalis ka? Paggising ko wala ka, di ka pa sumasagot sa tawag ko", may himig tampo ang boses nito.
"Natutulog ka pa kasi kanina. Pauwi na kami. Talk to you later"
"Haisst, mga in love nga naman", ani Belize pagkabalik ko nang phone niya.
"Ma-iinlove ka rin!" I replied grinning.
Nagkibit balikat lang ito, pero parang may idea na ko kung kanino ibibigay ni Belize ang puso niya.
Ang puso ko para sa isang tao lang. Tama si Belize, sa bawat minutong hindi ko kasama si Red, I miss him. But I'm happy at the thought of him waiting for me. Afterall that's happened, hinihintay niya ko, mahal pa rin niya ako. Dapat lang dahil kung hindi makakatikim siya sa akin.
Pero pagdating namin nang resthouse wala kaming Red na naabutan. Walang Red na naghihintay.
He promised to wait. I tried calling him, no answer. I texted him, no response. It scares me that no one in the house noticed him leaving. What if something bad happened to him. I was on the verge of breaking down, when Belize received a message from him.
“May pupuntahan lang ako. Baka late na ko makauwi”
That’s it, no message for me. I tried calling him again, pero hindi niya sinasagot. We were okae awhile back. He even called me. What in the world did just happen? I texted him again:
“Hey baby, where are you? Everything okae? Come back soon, I miss you.”
Tingnan ko lang kung hindi pa matunaw ang puso niya. One hour, two hours, no response.
Haisst, pag-uwi nang kumag na iyon, makakatikim na talaga sa akin.
Pero pagdating niya, parang naumid naman bigla ang dila ko, naka-silent mode naman na bigla. Bumungad ba naman kasi ito na parang nawalan nang milyones.
“Kuya, saan ka ba galing? We were so worried, lalo na si Ate Rafa!”, bungad agad ni Belize sa kanya.
But Red’s acting very strange, di man lang niya ko tinapunan nang tingin. Like I’m not right in front of him.
“Kumain ka na ba? Ipaghahanda kita.” I asked
“Tapos na ko”, he replied without looking at me and his face blank. Parang ibang Red ang kaharap ko, parang iyong Red bago mangyari ang aksidente.
“Red, Kuya!” sabay naming tawag sa kanya nung maglakad na siya papuntang room niya.
He never even looked at us & he just said “Not tonight”.
I stood there stunned and hurt. The only reason I could think of is ‘He Remembers’. His Memories are back.
