Chapter 39 : The Perfect End

Yahya couldn't take it anymore. For three long days, he had been tormented by the silence between him and Maryam. The fight they had was more serious than their usual spats, and it left a gaping hole in his heart. He had tried to keep his distance, thinking she needed space, but now, with each hour that passed, he realized he couldn't bear being away from her any longer.

The thought of her being away, upset with him, and him not being there to make things right was driving him mad.

After three days of unanswered calls and texts, Yahya decided enough was enough. He couldn't let this go on any longer. He had to see her, had to hold her and make her understand how much he needed her. Without wasting any more time, he got in his car and headed straight for Mahabaleshwar.

On the way, he contacted her brother, Abdul Rehman,asking for his help to arrange a surprise meeting. Abdul Rehman , sensing the desperation in Yahya's voice, agreed without hesitation. He suggested they take Maryam horse riding, knowing it would be the perfect setting for Yahya's unexpected arrival.

Meanwhile, Maryam was trying to enjoy her trip, but her heart wasn't in it. Even surrounded by her family, she felt completely alone. The fight with Yahya weighed heavily on her mind, and no matter how much she tried to distract herself, thoughts of him kept creeping in. She missed him terribly, but her pride kept her from reaching out.

After some teasing from her sisters, Maryam reluctantly took a pregnancy test—and to her surprise, it came out positive. A wave of emotions swept over her, but she decided she wouldn't tell Yahya over the phone. This was a moment she wanted to share face to face, perfectly and meaningfully, despite everything between them.

It was on the fourth day of their estrangement that Yahya made his move. As Maryam and her cousins walked towards the polo ground, she couldn't shake the feeling that something was off. The familiar scent of Yahya's cologne lingered in the air, a scent she had missed more than she cared to admit. She mentioned it to her sisters, joking that she missed him so much she could almost smell him. Her sisters laughed, but there was a nervous edge to Maryam's voice.

"You guys, I swear, I can smell him here. It's like he's right next to me," Maryam said, a hint of disbelief in her voice as she looked around.

"Maybe he's here to surprise you," one of her sisters teased, winking.

"Ha! As if," Maryam scoffed, shaking her head. "He's way too busy for that."

Her sentence was cut short when her eyes landed on a figure in the distance. Yahya, looking breathtakingly handsome in all black, rode towards her at high speed on a horse. Her breath caught in her throat, her heart skipping a beat. It was like a scene from a movie, and for a moment, she couldn't believe it was real.

Yahya, for his part, was trying to play it cool. He hadn't seen Maryam in days, and the sight of her nearly undid him. But he kept his composure, riding as if he hadn't noticed her. Only he knew how much restraint it took not to leap off the horse and run to her.

Maryam, not one to be outdone, quickly mounted a horse herself. Yahya slowed his pace, looking around for her, only to see her chasing after him. Her horse riding was impressive, a skill he hadn't known she possessed. His heart swelled with pride and admiration, but he kept his emotions in check.

When he finally dismounted, Yahya walked over to Abdul Rehman, who greeted him with a firm handshake and a knowing smile.

"Thanks for bringing her here," Yahya said, his voice low but full of gratitude.

"Anything for you, man. But you better make this right," Abdul Rehman replied, clapping Yahya on the shoulder.

Yahya nodded, his eyes already searching for Maryam. He found her struggling to dismount, and without hesitation, he walked over, his strong hands reaching up to help her down.
