New Year's Eve was usually a time I spent partying all night with strangers and not knowing about myself. Over the years I became more distant to these types of things, and preferred being cuddled up under a blanket with some good Netflix show playing on my TV. This year was different — in every way possible. So ending it with the person that was responsible for most of the change was not a surprise and most importantly, the best thing that could end the journey.
Step one seemed to be the easiest; get groceries. What we didn't think through was that during the New Year's, most of the shops are closed due to the holiday. Fortunately for us there was a small shop opened, so we stuck with that. I was observing through an aisle with flowers and Lando was at the cashier when the lady started talking to him. He started talking in French with her in full confidence, but he must've replied with something out of hand because the face of the lady looked like she had been told something outrageous.
With pleading eyes, he turned to me and I went to his side to rescue. He has been doing his Duolingo lessons though, I must say that, and during our evenings we practice French together, so he has definitely made some progress with the language and can manage pretty well.
Anyway, step two was to get the groceries safely back to our apartment. In that we succeeded. Back home, we also decided to record it all since I've been doing a lot more daily vlogs recently, so this one would spice it up a little.
Step three; get into the actual cooking.
But at that point Lando was already like a hungry toddler that fussed about everything. I stood at the doorway to the kitchen and watched as he roamed around the room, trying to find all the supplies and ingredients. Note of recommendation; leave the men do their thing when they're hungry and...don't involve yourself.
"It was always here and..where the fu—" he chaotically opened every cupboard, the item that was lost from his sight unknown to me due to the number of them he was searching for that I actually got lost in it as well.
"What exactly are you looking for now? I asked carefully with a raised brow and gave a side look into my camera. He turned to me with pursed lips and sighed.
"Some normal stirring thing."
I allowed myself to step into the mess and went past him to open one of the kitchen drawers to be met with wooden spoons immediately. Fighting the urge not to laugh, I took it out and gave it to him. Lando blinked a couple of times in disbelief before taking it and moving to me.
"You," he placed his hands on both sides of my waist and walked me backward so my back was met with a kitchen counter, "Will stay here and watch over me, cause I know I'm completely out of mind without you."
With a cheeky smile, he gave me a kiss on my forehead and moved back to his side of the kitchen where all the ingredients were laid out and started going through it. He decided to do pasta with mozzarella and tomatoes, which was probably the safest option in my opinion, so there wasn't too much to do.
When he grabbed an onion and threw it in the air as if he would juggle it, he suddenly turned to me, "Actually, wanna cut some things?"
I narrowed my eyes at the onion in his hands and walked to him, "Yep," I pretended I was going to take the onion from him but then went for the bag of tomatoes, "But not the onion, it doesn't deserve to be the reason for my tears."
He took in a breath and loudly exhaled with exaggeration, "But I hate onionsss."
"You win some you lose some," I giggled and took a cutting board and a knife before placing it on the counter. Ignoring his complaints, I washed the tomatoes and started cutting them into small pieces.
