AMIRAH(pov)::
The small hall was filled with hushed voices and quiet conversations, family and close friends gathered for the intimate event. The air was heavy with emotions—happiness for some, tension for others. Amirah sat still, her hands clasped tightly in her lap, trying to ignore the gnawing feeling in her chest.
Asher couldn't make it—he was sick. But everyone else was here, including Ahad, who stood across the room, speaking to Uzair.
Two more hours.
And then this chapter of her life would be sealed.
She exhaled slowly, trying to push away the thoughts that refused to leave her mind. Just as she did, the doors to the hall burst open with a loud thud.
A sharp gasp escaped someone. Heads turned.
And there he was.
Saud.
Dressed in all black, his face unreadable, his eyes locked onto her with a fire that made her stomach twist.
The air in the room thickened instantly. Conversations died. Tension crackled in the silence that followed.
Amirah's breath hitched.
He came.
But why now?
Saud's gaze flickered to Ahad, then back to her. His jaw tightened, his fists clenched at his sides. Without a word, he strode toward her.
"Come with me." His voice was low, rough—like a warning.
"Saud—" Uzair started, but Saud didn't stop.
Before Amirah could react, he grabbed her wrist, pulling her up from her seat. "Saud, stop it!" she protested, struggling against his grip.
But he wasn't listening.
Ignoring the stunned looks, the whispers, he dragged her away from the gathering, his grip firm, unyielding.
Her heart pounded against her ribs as he pulled her into the kitchen, slamming the door shut behind them.
And then, before she could even take a full breath, he pinned her against the wall.
The air rushed out of her lungs.
His hands caged her in, one on either side of her head. His eyes—darker than she had ever seen them—bore into hers with an intensity that made her throat go dry.
"Didn't I warn you not to talk to him?"
His voice was low, lethal, sending a shiver down her spine.
Amirah swallowed hard, trying to push away the fear crawling up her skin. "Why should I listen to you?" she shot back, voice shaking but defiant. "You're not my brother. Not my father."
Something flashed in his eyes—something dangerous.
Her heart pounded.
And then his expression shifted, his gaze darkening further, his whole body tense with something unspoken.
She barely had time to react before he leaned in just a fraction, his voice dropping to a whisper.
"Now you have made me compelled to do this."
Her breath hitched.
And before she could make sense of his words, before she could stop him—
He turned on his heel, storming back toward the hall.
And then—
"I announce that this Nikkah will not happen!"
The words rang out, sharp and final.
A stunned silence followed.
Amirah felt the ground vanish beneath her feet.
