The silence in the hall was deafening.

All eyes were on Saud, disbelief and shock rippling through the room like a storm. Amirah stood frozen, her heart hammering so loudly she could barely hear anything else.

"I will marry her."

Saud's words echoed in her mind, over and over.

Uzair was the first to break the silence. "Have you lost your mind, Saud?" His voice was sharp, his disbelief evident.

"You can't just decide something like this!" Sadaf Aunty snapped, her expression filled with anger and concern. "This is Amirah's life! You're not—"

"I am," Saud cut in, his voice unwavering. "And I have the citizenship. If she marries me, she stays."

A heavy pause followed.

Everyone looked at Amirah. But she... she couldn't speak.

Her breath felt trapped in her chest, her mind struggling to process what was happening.

Ahad, who had been silent till now, finally spoke. His jaw was clenched, his voice tense. "This isn't about papers, Saud. This is about her." His gaze flickered toward Amirah. "What does she want?"

Amirah opened her mouth, but no words came.

Because... what did she want?

She had already accepted this fate, convinced herself that marrying Ahad was the only way to stay, to survive.

But now Saud was standing there, throwing everything into chaos.

His dark, unreadable eyes met hers. And for the first time... she saw something in them. Something she couldn't understand.

He wasn't backing down.

The room erupted into arguments. Uzair, Kashish, Sadaf Aunty—everyone had something to say.

"She doesn't even love you!" someone accused.

"Neither did she love Ahad!" Saud fired back.

"She deserves a choice!"

"I am giving her a choice!" Saud's voice was sharp, his patience wearing thin. He turned back to Amirah. "Say it."

Her breath hitched. "What?"

"Do you want to stay?" His voice was steady, controlled—but his eyes held something deeper.

Amirah swallowed hard. She had fought so hard to be here. Fought against so much. And now...

She exhaled. "Yes."

The room fell silent again.

Saud's expression didn't change, but something in his posture eased.

"Then we're getting married."

Sadaf Aunty shook her head. "Absolutely not—"

But Uzair held up a hand, silencing everyone. His gaze locked onto Saud. "You'll talk to the college?"

"I already have an appointment with them."

Uzair's jaw tightened, his protective instincts warring with the situation. But finally, he exhaled sharply. "Fine."

Sadaf Aunty gasped. "Uzair!"

Uzair looked at Amirah. "Are you okay with this?"

Was she?

Her entire life had just shifted in the span of minutes. But when she looked at Saud...

There was no fear.

Just uncertainty.

And a strange, unsettling feeling deep in her chest.

"Yes," she said again, softer this time.

And just like that, the real Nikkah began.
