Thanks for sticking with this book! Means a lot to me!

Helena and her supposed "father" disappeared in the cloud of ash.

Helena felt a strange lurch in her stomach and she felt her whole body go numb except where her arm was touching his. Suddenly the sensation was over and she felt her head throb and had to support herself on the man.

She opened her eyes and saw she was in a Victorian styled room that was lit by few candles with one of the walls being a giant glass window but its view was darkened. Among the few peices of furniture there was a small table on the right of the room with a pile of papers and more candles, a Victorian sofa that seated 4 people that looked out to the window, and a small coffee table with a small vase holding a single rose.

There were 2 figures sitting on the sofa who stood up and turned to the both of them. They were both wearing black suits but one had a red tie and the other's was green. The man with the green tie glared at her. Since the room was dimly lit she couldn't make out the red tie man's face but she felt him smiling at her.

The red tie man cleared his throat and broke the silence, "So it seems you were succesful in bringing her. I thought you would have some trouble." Something about his voice seemed familiar.

The man who called himself her father spoke, "She cooperated when I told her where her mother was. It was easy, why'd you send me you could have gone yourself. I mean, after all, she is your daughter."

As he said this a chill went up Helena's spine. She froze not just beacause the man who's arm she was still holding wasn't her father, but his voice sounded exactly like the man with the red tie's.

The red tie man chuckled. He snapped his fingers and the room was lit by a glass chandelier hanging above. Helena squinted adjusting to the new lighting and looked closer at the red tie man's face. He looked exactly like the man next to her who was now wearing a similar black suit with a blue tie.

She backed away from him and took her gun out. The green tie man grunted with annoyance and had a look of disgust. He was clearly annoyed with Helena.

The blue tie man said, "Calm down and let us introduce ourselves. You still want to see your mom don't you?"Helena hesitantly lowered her gun.

The red tie man motioned at her to sit next to him. "Come here sweetie and sit next to your old man."

"I'm not sitting next to anyone until you tell me what's going on first. Who are you?"

The blue tie man pointed to himself and said, "I'm David. Green tie is Andy. And him over there is John, your father and our brother making us your uncles. Any questions?"

Andy finally spoke up and said with an annoyed voice, "Ugh, I have been waiting years for this project to finish and some annoying brat who won't cooperate will not waste another hour! Fuck questions, just show her her mom!"

Helena was shocked by his outburst but the other two didn't look as surprised. She figured this happened with him often.

David shook his head and sighed, "Now Andy that's no fun, but I guess we should be moving on," he looked at Helena, "so why don't we show you her. Just look out the window."

Helena slowly walked past them and stood in front of the window. What she saw made her scream.

Helena saw a monster that was completely covered in metal scales with a long tail that was forked at the end. Its face was short with a small snout that was covered with red metal, or at least she hoped it was the metal, and had large red eyes and teeth made out of metal too. She could hardly tell if it was a living thing with all its modifications and metal skin, but under that metal shell she was sure something was alive.

However the horrible abomination of metal and skin was not why she had screamed. It was because in between its sharp metal teeth she saw her mother's hand sticking out and covered in blood.

John put his hand on her shoulder and whispered something in her ear that the other two couldn't hear. Helena trembled and slowly reached for her gun. She shot all three of them and then shot the window causing it to shatter. She jumped out the window into the darkness and onto the monster.

Unaffected by the bullets the three of them just stood outside the window, and smiled.

1 hour earlier...

Jane was close to reaching the monster's nest before she heard Marissa calling out to her.

"I thought you said you gave up."

"Geez, can't I make up my mind at the last second?" she smiled, "Just like old times remember?"

"Speaking of old times...What happened that night you...You know..."

"Died?" She shrugged her shoulder's, "No idea. All I know is I died and woke up here."

"Do you think this is where we get a second chance?"

"Who knows, probably. But this is one hell of place to get a second chance. It's a game of survival."

"Hmm, well whatever this place is let's get out. Come on, the nest is close by."

"Wait. Before we go charging in there I want to know your master plan." She crossed her arms and sat down.

Jane sat down next to her and explained, "Well I was thinking I could distract it and have it chase me while you find a way to reach that light. How does that sound?"

"Stupid. You shouldn't use yourself as bait. I'll do it. I know you got someone waiting out there."

"Yeah, I shouldn't leave Helena waiting."

"Exactly, so come on." Marissa got up and started walking.

Jane got up and followed. "Hey I got another question."

Without turning she said, "Sure, what is it?"

Jane held her gun up to Marissa's head, "How'd you know about Helena?"

Marissa smiled, "I forgot you were a smart little thing. Guess we shouldn't have underestimated you."

"Nice try."

Jane pulled the trigger and shot Marissa in the head. Her body fell to the ground and disintegrated into ash. She shed silent tears because the thing she shot did used to be her friend. It wasn't her fault she got possesed, it could've happened to anyone. But now she knew who was behind this and grew furious.

Jane pulled out her other gun and ran towards the nest. She was sure the gunshot woke up the monster, and that was fine. It would make a more interesting target.
