Anastasia's POV
We sat in a U-shaped table: Trevor, Tess, Jade, Dylan, Troy, Me, Calum, Kris, Joey, and Austin. We were a little squeezed, but nobody really minded even Calum. He was getting along well with Kris especially, but even Dylan was asking for some guitar tips. We all ordered drinks and Tess looked at me, "You're glowing a little."
"Yeah I see it too." Jade commented making me laugh a little.
"I'm actually not only engaged, but pregnant too." I looked down blushing and noticed Troy's hand making a tight fist. I turned my head a bit and he was red in the face looking at his lap. I'd have to find out about it later.
"We've missed so much." Joey said making us all laugh.
"Yeah we have. What even made you finally come back?" Troy's voice was lower and sounded a bit angry. His jaw was clenched and he was looking directly at me.
"I missed home, and it's my birthday Friday." I looked away from him almost ready to cry, my hormones were taking over and I felt very emotional. I felt Calum's hand on my thigh and he smiled at me making me smile back.
"Troy's just mad he missed his chance with you." Joey joked making Troy glare at him. I was kind of confused, but then I remembered the almost 6 year old memory.

Flashback
Currently I was deciding on rather to dramatically change my life and move to California or stay in Ohio and just going to a local school. I didn't like the idea of staying here, but the idea of moving cross country was scary.
I looked at the notification on my email and it was from UCLA:
Dear Anastasia:
You have yet to send in whether or not you are coming to UCLA. This was supposed to be done at the beginning of May, but we have extended your time until June 26, because the Cheer coach wants you and you have scholarly potential. Also if you accept you will need to move in at the beginning of July for cheerleading.
Thank You,
UCLA Admissions Team
Now I knew I had to talk to my friends. They were the reason that I was considering staying in my tiny town. I immediately went to text them but heard a knock on my door: it was Troy. I sighed and let him in and he noticed my mood.
"What's up Stasia?" He always used Stasia instead of Ana, but I didn't mind.
"School decisions." I told him sitting with him on the bed.
"Oh are you still considering California?" I looked at my hands and he stood up tucking his hands in his pocket. "I should get going, I was going to see Danielle anyway."
I couldn't believe he didn't say anything and just left like that. We had been best friends for years and always helped each other with any kind of decision. I wasn't fazed when Tess came in just still thinking.
"Wow so you seem in deep thought still thinking about college." I nodded just showing her the email. She patted my back and sighed. "You need to get out of this town Ana. You're bigger and better than this town. You're not meant to stay here, and you have your opportunity to leave."
"It's just Troy. Today was weird, instead of sitting back and watching reruns of Zoey 101, he up and left when I mentioned thinking about Cali." I started biting my thumbnail, not a usual habit just one that came out when I was super nervous.
"He's your best friend he should support you more than anyone. I know all the rest of us have been waiting for you to say you're leaving. We support you. He should too." Tess and I ended up watching Netflix and eating pizza all night.
.
I had decided on California, and the day before I left Tess decided we had to have one last hoorah in my bedroom.
"So, many memories have been made in this room for all of us. It's sad to think that we won't be gathered here to "watch" Teen Wolf on Monday anymore, but this is Anastasia's big move from this town, and it's time to celebrate." Everyone cheered after Tess' mini speech. I laughed and looked around the small group for one person: Troy.
"He's with her Ana, I'm sorry." Austin told me and I looked back at the group message. He had responded and said he'd be there. I thought maybe he'd burst in, but I went on with my night anyway. By 3 in the morning everyone was gone and I still had hope especially when there was a knock on my door, but it was just Kris saying he left his phone.
The next morning I got in my car and got a call:
BEST FRIEND <3
I pressed the answer button and held the phone to my ear not saying anything.
"I'm sorry I didn't make it."
"I'm sorry too."
.
"All you had to do was say stay and back then I would've done it. I'm glad I didn't." I finally spoke up, but Troy didn't comment and dinner went on. It was awesome to hear from everyone: Jade and Dylan both went to Wittenberg, Trevor and Tess were living in an apartment as she worked on her Psych masters and Trevor was a personal trainer, Austin worked at a garage fixing cars, and Joey was management at a shoe store.
I asked to get up to use the bathroom and everyone let me out. I was walking back through the small hallway when a hand grabbed my wrist and I was up against the wall. "Ana you can't avoid me."
"I'm not Troy, but you have been acting like a douche over me leaving 6 years ago when you didn't even talk to me my last month home."
"I had a girlfriend. I had to pay her attention-"
"Stop giving me that crap you had her for months before too, but ditched her many times without me even knowing. Troy I don't think you understand the fact that I'm in love. Not just with Calum, but with where I'm at in life." I pushed him away, but he grabbed my face as if to pull me in for a kiss, but someone was quickly between us.
"Dude, you need to stop, you weren't there when she needed you to be. Be there now for her. Support her. Be what you're supposed to be her best friend." Calum was surprisingly calm and Troy sighed.
"I'm sorry Ana, I shouldn't be here." He went to walk, but I caught his arm pulling him to face him.
"Are you gonna walk out on our friendship for the second time?" I let go and was ready to walk when he didn't answer, but then I heard a small no and saw him headed back to the table. I grabbed Calum's hand and smiled at him.
"You're something." Calum laughed giving me a quick peck as we strolled back to the table. I really was right my life was in a great place.
