Chapter 7

*Adriel's POV*

I shuffled through my draws and packed a backpack to take when Maddison and I leave this hell hole. This place made me so enraged at the man that raised me, I still can't believe that he would want to hurt Maddison's family when they seem so kind. 'Just kill Jason and get rid of the threat. After that we can live happily with our mate' my wolf growled impatiently at me even though he knew very well that if I did that then the rogues would tear me to shreds and I can't leave my Maddie like that.

"Son? Can I come in?" I heard Jason ask through my door causing me to jump in surprise. I quickly stashed the backpack in my underwear drawer and told him to come in as I sat on my bed with a comic to look casual. "What's up dad?" I asked calmly, it took all of my strength not to attack him and watch him slowly die. "What information did you get out of the girl?" Jason questioned as he leaned on my doorframe while staring intently at me. I made a thinking expression then decided to lie to him, "Well apparently she found her mate, he's one of the idiots in her pack. She wouldn't tell me his name so I told her I'd be back later and she'd better tell me when I get back. I think we could use it to our advantage" I informed him smoothly, I did such a good job that I almost believed myself.

"Okay get that out of her soon, I want to take more hostages. I might even take her little siblings" Jason plotted maniacally as he smirked darkly. "That's typical dad, just take the beta and gamma then slowly watch the pack fall apart" I suggested to protect Maddie's family, I know that her pack can function easily without the 2nd and 3rd in commands so it won't affect her family. "Good plan, I told you that you would be just like me when you grew up" Jason chuckled as he ruffled my hair then walked out.

I quickly finished packing then threw on the back pack and went to get Maddison since it's dark outside. "Maddie, it's time to go..." I whispered as I gently shook her awake and untied her from the chair that she sat on. Maddison quickly got up and followed me outside where I handed her the backpack as I shifted and told her to get onto my back. As soon as I knew she was holding on tight I bolted which drew the attention of a few rogues.

They began to chase after us while snapping at my hind legs. Since this isn't a real pack there is no pack link connecting the rogues so they are much less organised and can't contact each other easily. I heard Maddison scream as a wolf snapped at her and nearly got her, she hugged me tightly as I sped up in an attempt to lose the rogues that were chasing us. "Are they gone?" I asked Maddie as I dodged the trees and headed towards the closest town which is about 200km away.

She squirmed around on my back momentarily then relaxed into my fur, "Yeah they're gone..." Maddison sighed in relief then she knotted her fingers into my fur and rested her head against me. I internally smiled at the fact that we had escaped so easily and ran as fast as I could to reach the town.

After an exhausting few hours of sprinting Maddison and I came to the 5km mark away from the town. For the sake of not being caught out for being werewolves we shifted and began to walk along the roadside with our thumbs out, hopefully someone will be kind enough to give us a lift into town. The cars continually zoomed past us, majority of the people didn't even spare us a second glance as we trudged along the road in the dark. You would think that people would have the heart to stop for 2 mud coated, exhausted teens to help them but I guess humans just don't care.

By the time that we reached the town the sun was slowly rising into the sky and Maddie looked ready to pass out. "Are you ok?" I asked her tentatively as she stumbled along the footpath. She shook her head no then leaned up against me, as if like an instinct I picked her up and carried her bridal style. An old man walked out of his shop and froze when he saw us then he came forward, "Who are you and what happened to you two?" He questioned inquisitively as he examined my sleeping mate.

"We have been lost in the forest for so long that I lost track of the time. We have no ID and all we can remember is our first names. I am Adriel and this is my girlfriend Maddison. We have been walking for so long that she passed out from exhaustion, please help us" I lied smoothly as the man stared in shock then ushered me into the shop. It was a small cafe that looked very quaint and the man clearly was the only worker here. "Sit her down on the lounge, I will get you two some food and water then you can have a shower and change into some spare clothes I have from my children. They recently left for college and their clothes should fit you" the kind man said as he scampered off to get us a sandwich each and a glass of water.

"Thank you sir, what is your name?" I asked, curious to know the name of the man that just took us in. He smiled softly to me as he spoke, "My name is Jedediah" he said as he handed me a cushion to lay underneath Maddie's head. I gently lifted her head to rest it on the cushion but she opened her eyes. "Adriel, where are we?" She asked hoarsely as her eyes landed on Jedediah and she started to worry.

"Baby we made it to town, this man Jedediah is going to let us shower and change into clean clothes." I explained as she slowly sat up while rubbing her tired eyes and smiled weakly at Jedediah. "Thank you Jedediah" Maddie sighed as she gratefully took the food from Jedediah and ate quickly then greedily gulped down the water. Jedediah simply smiled and nodded in response to Maddison then led us to the second floor of the cafe where he lived to let us have a shower. He gave us towels and clothing then sent us into the bathroom to shower and clean ourselves up.

"He is so kind, do you think he might let us stay with him if we work for him at the cafe? It would be nice to settle down in this town for a while, at least until we figure out where we are going." Maddison sighed as she peeled out of her grimy clothes, completely forgetting my presence until she was nude. She grabbed a towel quickly and covered herself causing a growl to come from my throat. "Maddie you are perfect, don't hide from me" I growled out then hugged her tightly then let her go. She was bright red and looked so embarrassed then she let the towel fall as she hopped into the shower.

I followed her lead and got into the shower where she had her back to me, she is so innocent. I turned her and made her look me in the eye, "Maddison never turn your back on me, you are amazing and shouldn't be ashamed." I whispered then leaned to her neck, skeptical thoughts crashing through my mind. I slowly bit her neck, marking her as mine and making our bond stronger. She will go into heat soon at this rate.
