"Hidden Intentions"

When I had finally finished helping Zole in fixing up his attire, I couldn't help but notice that he kept glancing in my direction.

"What's the matter?" I asked as I met his gaze.

A smile crept across his face as an idea came into his head.

"Why don't you come with me to the meeting room?" he suggested.

I was surprised by his sudden invitation.

"Zole, only nobles with titles are allowed in there. While I may be a Baron's son, I have yet to inherit my father's title."

He moved closer in an attempt to change my decision.

"You're my butler Lewis, which makes you the personal servant of the crown prince. That title alone should be enough to get you in there."

His persistence was evident. I shrugged off his attempts and proceeded to clean the table beside the mirror, knowing it was almost time for him to attend the meeting.

"Why do you want me to come along anyway? I won't be of any help if we're being honest here."

Out of nowhere, he stepped behind me, gently taking my hand to halt my cleaning.

"Truth be told, I'm nervous." he confessed.

My eyes widened as his touch lingered on my hand.

"What are you nervous about? You've excelled in all of the things that you've participated in. This shouldn't be any different."

His forehead rested on my shoulder.

"But this time, I'll be facing nobles who will most likely detest my presence when I arrive in that room."

I let out a sigh.

"What could I possibly contribute? I lack noble authority to reprimand and -"

He cut me off.

"Just having you there would ease my nerves, please....?"

But in reality that was never the reason, he didn't even care for those noble bastards to talk bad about him, his real plan was just for Lewis to stay by his side and be with him a little longer since being the crown prince became the reason why they barely even interacted like before cause Zole was always busy with his duties.

His request was earnest.

Given his plea, I reluctantly agreed.

"Okay, fine. But please, stop hovering around me or we'll be late."

Zole stepped back, a satisfied smirk appearing on his lips.

Before we left, I reminded him.

"How am I supposed to clean your room if I'm coming along with you?"

"Just leave it for now. You can tidy up after the meeting. Besides, since you're the only one who's working under me personally, I wouldn't get mad even if you won't do anything about it."
