Evie can’t walk much, she hates it. I love carrying her around though. I think its adorable how she huffs when I lift her up out of bed and carry her down to the living room and drop her on the couch. She is starting to gain her bearings though, its her second day being home.
“Ow-” I heard her hiss.
“Evie?”
“I’m fine.” She replied, not very convincing. I walked over to the bedroom and noticed she wasn’t in her bed, but I saw the light on in the bathroom. The door was slightly cracked, but to make sure she wasn’t indecent I rapped on the door.
“Are you sure you're ok?”
“Yes Harry! I just fell.”
“I’m coming in there.” I huffed but I felt her push on the door.
“No Harry! I’m not dressed. I am trying to take a shower.” She replied. I knew she was still on the ground because the area that was harder to open on the door was the bottom half. I also noticed the sound of the water running.
“You can’t take a shower if you are stuck on the ground.” I replied quickly. Evie sighed.
“But I don’t have a top on.” I smiled a bit, but shook it off. Serious Harry, serious. Evie’s on the ground... shirtless, how do I get her up without seeing her.
“Well put your top back on.” I said in a matter of fact sort of tone.
“Thank you for inputting your genius thoughts. I must of forgot about my ability to put on my soaking wet white shirt.”
“Why is shirt wet?”
“Because when I fell taking it off, it fell in the shower, and I fell on the ground.” I laughed at the way she said it. She made it sound like this was a normal occurrence in her life. Like she just always got stranded on the bathroom floor topless.
“Problems just love to surround you Evie, don’t they?” I said laughing, she hit the door.
“Thats not funny Harry!” She whined, which made me laugh more.
“What’s the big deal? Evie I love you, does it matter?”
“Thats not the point Harry!” I sighed.
“Then what is the point?” I asked, now leaning on the door.
“I um- I don’t want you to see me.” She said quietly. If I wasn’t leaning on the door I wouldn’t of heard her. I frowned at her shyness around me. And now we're back to the trust issues. I guess they are kinda my fault, you know from when we were kids. Why did I mess her up so bad? I ran my hands through my hair, trying to get the thoughts out of my mind. I guess guilt never truly goes away.
“Why not?”
“Because I just, I just don’t want you too.”
“Well I am not leaving you on the ground.” I replied, I heard her take a deep breath.
“I think- I think I can get up on my own.” I wanted to tell her to stop, but I heard the crash before I could. I pulled open the door, and caught her as she slipped, again.
