"Where is Aemond?" Viserra demanded, her voice cracking with the emotion hidden behind her words.
Alys took another step into the room, her expression calm yet she did not care to answer.
"Was it you who told him about Daemon?" Viserra did not hesitate to shovel blame on someone else.
"I did not." Alys answered.
"Liar!" She hissed back, slamming her palm against the table. "We should never have trusted you."
Alys did not flinch, remaining unphased by her anger. "I can not intervene..." she explained. "If it is not my place."
The woman's response only deepened her frustration, but she gave herself a moment to catch her breath and put thought into her next words.
"Tell me," Alys continued, raising her hand to prevent Viserra from speaking. "Of all the things you have been shown, were any of them lies?"
Her brow furrowed at the question, the memories of offering her blood in return for visions came flashing back to her mind. She could not deny the truth of it all, seeing each vision with her own eyes. It was only the one of Aemond and Vhagar falling from the skies that she had yet to see come to pass. Alys' words felt like a challenge, making her hesitate and ignore her doubt to so easily replace it with anger.
"When did Aemond leave here?" Viserra demanded, her desperation in her voice much more evident than before.
Alys tilted her head slightly as if amused by this question. "When?" She asked as if it weren't obvious.
"Do not play games with me, witch." Viserra snapped. "Tell me what you know or I-"
"Aemond has been gone for two days," she interjected, seemingly unaffected by the beginnings of Viserra's threat.
"Where to?"
Alys paused for a moment, giving her a conflicted look. "I cannot divulge anything I have not been given permission to share."
It did not take much for her temper to flare being denied information once more. "I will not hesitate to cut your tongue from your mouth if you cannot find it within you to speak of which I ask."
Alys let out a sigh, continuing to meet her anger with an even more maddening calm. "I may be willing to help you find more of what you seek. Both new life and blood offerings are sure to bring clarity to those who surrender and ask."
Viserra put her face in her hands. "I cannot do this Alys."
The silence that followed hung heavy in the air. It wasn't until Alys spoke again that Viserra looked up to meet her eyes, but to her surprise the woman had extended her hand out to her. "I can lead you where you might seek out the answers."
Her eyes narrowed at the offer, but there was something in Alys' expression that did not dissuade her from trusting her in that moment. "Do not look at me that way," she managed to huff out. "Tell me, I need the truth. Is Aemond gone?"
Alys carefully moved her head in a slow nod, her dark eyes piercing into her while she observed the unpredictable lashing out of the girl in front of her.
The breath left Viserra's lungs in a sharp rush, the confirmation hitting her as if it was an actual blow.
"He is no longer here," she responded. "But I have already told you this."
Viserra sucked in a breath. "And Daemon?"
"Daemon will never leave the depths of the God's Eye. The fish will feast upon his corpse for as long as it will sustain them."
